Chapter Six

           To put it simply, Liam wasn’t in his right mind when he decided to kiss Freya. He couldn’t think of any way to stop Warren from kissing Theola and Ethan that random woman. He felt that it would not be right for Warren and Theola to share a kiss.

            He pulled away from Freya.

            “I’m sorry.” Liam said instantly. Liam looked around and saw Ethan and Warren looking at him shocked.  Liam didn’t know how to get out of that situation at all.

            Freya was looking at him, dazed as to what had happened. “What’s the meaning of this?” Theola was the first to speak. “Why did you kiss her?”

            “I don’t know.” Liam said defiantly. “What about you? Weren’t you two about to kiss as well?” He said pointing at Warren.

            “I was merely trying to test something out.” Warren said calmly. “And I’ve confirmed it.” Warren looked at Theola meaningfully. Theola looked away blushing. Liam was curious. What did Warren confirmed?

            “Hey! You idiot!” Ethan shouted as he walked towards the group. Liam looked around and saw people staring at them.

            “Let’s not do this here. People are starting to watch.” Liam said trying to smile.

            “Fine. All of you, get out.” Ethan said before walking out.

            He was waiting just outside the town hall. “Why do we have to go out?” Theola asked defiantly.

            “Stop complaining. I’m pretty pissed right now.” Ethan said trying to hold back his irritation. “Could you explain what just happened there? Why did you kiss her?” He said to Liam. “And you two, just what is your relationship?” He asked Theola and Warren.

            “We’re friends. We were just dancing. Are you satisfied?” Theola answered back.

            “Yes. I am. What about you, why did you Freya, of all people?” He pointed at Liam.

            “Ahhhh… I don’t know. Warren was about to kiss Theola and you were about to kiss that random woman, I felt like I had to stop it somehow, because that would be a grave mistake, but I couldn’t think of anything else, that’s why I kissed…. Freya.” Liam said swiftly in a very confused way. He looked embrrassedly at Freya. “Sorry.” He said.

            “What? I didn’t understand any of that.” Ethan was confused.

            “So you kissed me just to stop your cousins from kissing another woman? I don’t think that is the reason.” Freya said meaningfully. “I think you were jealous of your cousin. You like Theola don’t you?” She said looking at Liam.

            “Huh?!!!” Liam reacted, it was an absurd idea. “What gives you that idea? I don’t see Theola like that. But I know someone who does.” Liam said looking at Ethan.

            “Freya, could you stop that.” Theola complained. “What’s the purpose of all this anyway?”

            “I think this is a good idea.” Warren said with a smile. “We could be honest with everyone this way. I was trying to kiss Theola to test something. But when our lips were about to touch, she closed her eyes and looked away.”

            “So you like someone else?” Liam asked excitedly. Suddenly, it was all clear to him, what his quest was all about. He was to make Ethan and Theola connect their feelings to one another. They liked each other, but somehow they couldn’t act upon those feelings. Liam’s quest was to make them act using their hearts. “Who is it?”
