The Next Morning into Mid-Afternoon

Chyna Korea Santiago Jones

It's graduation and prom and I'm so excited. It one more step towards my future and going to college. I'm so excited and so happy that school is finally almost over. But it's also sad thinking that once we hear those special words "congrats", life is going to change and I'm not used to change like that. But I guess life has to move on and so do I. But for right now, I had to enjoy what's happening right now.

I was taking a shower and I was feeling more alive. I got out and got dressed in the clothes that were laid out on my bed. I dried off and put on my clothes. I went into my bathroom and straightened my hair. I checked myself out in the mirror and I saw that I looked cute. Then I put on my and gown. It felt so right to be in this position, I've been waiting for this day ever since I was a little girl and now it's finally happening. 

While I was getting dressed, I heard a knock at the door. I told that person to come in. When I turned around it was Nina. She was the least expected person who I thought I would see.

"Hey, can I come in?" Nina asked. "Sure why not?" I said. ''Thanks." Nina said coming in. "So what's up?" I asked. "I just want to say that I know that I haven't been the easiest person to live with. But I just want to say that I'm very proud of you and both mom and dad would be proud of you too." Nina said. "Thanks Nina, that really means alot especially coming from you." I said. 

Nina and I stood up and gave each other a hug. This was a big day for me and I still couldn't imagine that this was still happening. Nina left my room and waited for me downstairs. I was nervous because I was selected as valedictorian and I had to give a speech. I guess this graduation is as good as it's going to get. 

Tremaine Neverson

The crew and I were at school entrance all chatting. I had to admit that this year has been a rough one. We were all coupled up except me because Chyna hadn't arrived yet, but as soon as the crew stopped talking, I turned around and saw Chyna get out. She saw me and walked up to me. 

"Hi." I said. "Hey." Chyna said. "You look nice." I said. "Thanks, but don't get too starstruck because tonight will be the best night of your life." Chyna said. "I like the sound of that and we better get this shitty ass graduation over with then." I said smiling. 

Chyna smiled back and the crew and I just went into the school building and headed to the auditorium. It was a good thing that we all get a chance to sit next to each other. The parents were behind us and I was feeling really nervous. And I'm not the type to get nervous like that. I looked over at Chyna and smiled. We didn't speak because the ceremony was starting.

"Good afternoon parents, friends, teachers, and students. We are glad that you could make it on this special day. I am proud to present your valedictorian Chyna Korea Jones." Principal James said.

Everyone clapped as the principal introduced me. I was scared and felt like I was going to throw up. I never had to give a speech in front everyone and it was nerve-racking. When I finally got on the stage, I took a deep breath and spoke my speech.
