Chapter Twenty - Reunited

ALI'S POV

I just stared at my mother. One, I found out she was alive, and I could barely get over that part. Two, this whole new "government-testing drug." I'm wondering if I'm trapped in a coma, and this was all fake. It would make things a lot easier that way.

I goraned, putting my face in my hands, elbows resting on the table.

"Ali, honey, what did I tell you about how it's rude to put your arms--" my mother began to say, before I snapped at her and cut her off.

"Well, mom, how the hell was I supposed to remember after nine years of thinking you were DEAD?!" I snapped, anger suddenly bubbling up inside me.

I have a reason to be mad... she left me without even contacting me. She MADE me suffer through life for nine freaking years. Did she expect that I would still be the happy person I used to be? I thought, more and more anger building up inside of me.

I must've looked like I was about to explode because Jordan reached his hand across from the booth and touched my hand, smiling.

It calmed me down slightly, but I became even more mad when my mom furrowed her eyebrows and said, "You've changed a lot, Ali."

I whipped my head towards her. "You think?!" I yelled, attracting attention from around the restauarant.

I stormed out of the restaurant, fuming, and I heard running behind me. I felt Jordan wrap his arms around me from behind and whisper into my ear, "Ali, it's fine, just calm down. Your mother just misses you."

I turned around and dug my face deep in his chest. "I thought she was DEAD, Jordan. She lied, and left me to almost die from my father and from all the bullies," I mumbled, tears forming in my eyes. "She almost made the monster inside me kill myself."

Jordan pulled apart when my mother came walking towards us, heels clacking on the cement of the sidewalk.

"Ali, I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to get upset," she began, "But I couldn't tell anyone that I was alive, not even your father. I've missed him so much... Is he at home?"

My head snapped towards her, a look of fear and anger in my eyes. I saw my mother's expression change from curiosity to disbelief. "Oh, no... please tell me he's still alive," she said, a hand at her mouth.

"He's still alive, maybe. If he didn't accidentally kill himself while he was drunk, along with me," I said, a look of disgust on my face.

"What?" she said, tilting her head.

"You see all these bruises on my face? My arms? My legs? Guess who they're from!" I snapped at her.

I saw her swallow. "Ali... I'm so sorry... I didn't know--"

"Oh, you DIDN'T KNOW, MOM. Maybe if you had at least dropped a message saying you were alive I wouldn't have done this!" I screamed, pulling up my sleeves, exposing the countless number of scars.

I saw her shocked expression, and I broke down crying right on the sidewalk. I felt Jordan's arms catch me as always, and surround me. After a while of my sobs, I felt my mother rubbing my back in small circles.

I've missed her so much... I thought.

I turned around and faced my mother, hugging her.

"Come one, let's go see your father," my mother said. I tensed up in fear, and she quickly said, "Don't worry, I won't let him hurt you."

After walking back to the hospital to get Jordan's car, we all piled into his Mercedes Benz. I sat in the backseat, twiddling my thumbs, processing all of the events that had just occured, when suddenly my mother said, "If you're not living at the house anymore, who are you living with?"

I knew my mother would never let me live by myself in an apartment, even if I was nineteen years old. "Umm.. I uhh... I'm living with..." I was about to say Mitch, when I heard Jordan speak up.

"She's living with me, Mrs. Keele, if that's okay with you," he said quickly, not taking his eyes off the road.

I widened my eyes slightly when I heard her response. "Of course, you seem to treat her well. And please, call me Isabella."

**Skipping Car Ride to Shitty Hell Hole that Ali Used to Live in**

We all climbed out of the car. I took a deep breath. "I'll go first," I said bravely, knowing that I would have to eventually face my father.

I walked up the steps and knocked on the door.

I saw the door open, and there stood my dad. He looked sober enough. I thought.

"I knew you'd be back, princess," he said, smirking evily.

I saw him reach for a nearby beer bottle, bringing it up over his head, and I braced myself for the pain to come, when I heard a voice yell harshly, "Daniel! What do you think you're doing to our own daughter?!"

I saw him drop the bottle instantly and he stumbled out of the doorway. I saw him shake his head in diselief. "No... no... you're not real... Isabella is dead..." he whispered, pushing past me harshly, staring at her.

I saw a tear slide down his cheek. My mother nodded. "I'm back, Daniel," she said quietly.

I saw something on my dad's face that I haven't seen in nine years. A smile. I couldn't help but smile as well when I saw him hug her, swinging her around, both of them laughing.

I gently squeezed past him and joined Jordan's side. I grabbed his arm, leaning onto his shoulder. "Thanks for saying that back in the car by the way," I said, while watching my dad grab my mom's hand and drag her into the house, giggling.

We started to walk away, and Jordan said, "Well I wasn't lying, because I was going to ask you if I could stay with you at your apartment, instead of at the hotel room, now that Morgan and I aren't together anymore... which reminds me... I need to tell her we're through..."

I smiled. "Of course, Jordan." I imagined all the fun times we would have together. But then I frowned at the wording of his phrase. "But, Jordan, now I feel like I'm the reason you guys broke up... you did say that you loved her at the panel..."

"Ali, didn't I tell you this already? I wasn't talking about Morgan when I said that... I was talking about you," he said, blushing a deep scarlet.

I turned to face him. "If you're telling me you love me right now," I began, seeing panic flash in Jordan's eyes. I knew he thought I would reject him. "Then I'd like to tell you that I love you too," I finished.

He smiled widely, and leaned in.

Right when our lips touched, I heard a girl's voice right behind us. "Is that so, Jordan?"

We snapped our heads toward the direction of the voice, and saw Morgan, looking more angry then sad.
