When I got on to the US military plane, I looked around and I saw only one other girl than me, rest were boys.

So I decided to sit by the only other girl. While I was walking to the seat I felt weird, like some of the guys would just stare at me or kinda give me a stuck up look, or a flirty look. Ew!

I sat in the seat by the girl not knowing what she will act like.

She had mid length jet black hair that had some waves to it. it looked like she had hazel eyes. She had a rounded face shape. She looked like she would be tall if she stood up, she was farely skinny looking.

After a couple minutes of just sitting there awkwardly, the girl finally looked up and smiled at me.

"Oh Hi, Sorry I would of looked up or introduced myself sooner, at first I thought you were one of those pigs." she said pointing at a group of guys that kept on giving really flirty looks.

"Oh, well I'm not so hi." I said smiling and held my hand out for her to shake.

She gladly shook me hand. "So what's your name and where are you from and, well just tell me everything about you!" she demanded but her smile never left her face.

"I'm Iris Lagato, I'm from Cheshire Minnesota and I have a little brother and I live with my mom. My dad died in the army, and I'm 17, and their is nothing much to my life other than that." I said simply

"Oh, Well I bet there is more to your life than that, but I'm not going to push it because we just met." she said calmly, "My name is Natalie Kinsley, I'm from Majorca Alabama, I live in a small house with my daughter Katie-Ann that is only four and my finance Dani. I'm only eighteen but almost nineteen, Dani's twenty one. My parents kicked me out of the their house because I got pregnant with Katie-Ann, so I moved in with Dani, then we bought a house together. My parents totally disowned me. They said I was a disgrace to ower family, and so on, but I don't let that bring me down I got a wonderful finance a beautiful daughter so to me I'm living a my dream even if my family is not in the picture." she said happily but when ever she talked about her family her face fell into saddens. I could just tell she misses them, but she looks like that kinda girl that doesn't admit stuff that she doesn't want to admit.

"If you don't mind me asking, if you are living your dream life then why would you even want to join the army?" I asked curiously

"Oh well I don't mind, I joined because..... well..... I wanted to show my parents that I'm not totally worthless, I want to show them what I can do." she said proudly

"Yeah I understand." I said nodding

"So, why did you join the army?" she asked curiously

"I really don't know why. I think it's because I miss my dad so much I think becoming what he did will get me closer to him. does that make sense?" I asked

"Yeah it kinda does, but I can understand." she said nodding

"Do your parents know that you joined the army?" I asked

"Yes, I thought they would be proud of me but they just said I could never do it. They said I would chicken out and stuff. My dad look me right in the eye and said "You will disgrace the army if you go. You will disgrace America if you fight for them." I have never been so hurt with words in my life." she said sadly

I felt so bad for her. I feel so ridiculous, I thought my life was hard, her family disowned her, said hurtful things to her. I should be thankful for the family I have now.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." I starred at her sadly

"Don't be."
