This is a story I wrote years ago and might comb through again for better editing and maybe add more at a later date.
Chapter 1: Imprisoned Discoveries
"Kyle I can't believe that you actually got Uncle Dan to let you take a whole week off. How'd you talk him into it?" a young girl of roughly fifteen asked as she twirled a lock of wavy black hair around her finger as she watched Kyle. Kyle was busy restocking a shelf of men's polo shirts. The girl a short five foot three with warm brown eyes and pale cream colored skin. Kyle was an easy five foot seven with lightly tanned skin, forest green eyes, and slightly messy mahogany brown and golden sun streaked shoulder length hair.
"That's very easy to explain Alice. Kyle has actually earned his vacation and is taking it under my orders." a new and much deeper voice answered startling them both.
"Oh! Uncle Dan... um how are you?" Alice asked nervously since she had obviously been caught not working.
"Hello Mr. Rangerson." Kyle said with a warm smile. Dan Rangerson gave his niece a mock stern look before his own face broke into a boyish grin as he shook his head. He had short dyed red hair and was a fairly short man at a height of five foot four. Though he was in his mid forties and was slowly going to see he was robust but not chunky.
"Hello Kyle my boy. Could you do me a favor and set up the new display in business suits before you leave?"
"Sure, which suit do you want me to show case?" Kyle asked as he finished placing the last neatly folded shirt on the shelf.
"Which ever one you think that more people will go for. With the holiday seasons around the corner and people always needing them for job interviews.. Well I'm sure that you'll pick the best one." Dan chuckled clapping a friendly hand on Kyle's shoulder.
"Alright, I'll do it when I finish this and setting up the rest of the neck ties."
"Why don't we let Miss. Savins here deal with that since I really do need to have a good reason to be paying family. Besides she doesn't seem to be very busy at the moment now are you Alice?"
"Uh right Uncle I'm on my way. Getting right to it." that said she ran off quickly.
"She's a wonderful niece and a great worker, that is as long as you know how to get here moving. Oh well I guess that's what I get for hiring family eh?" the whole thing was said with a light hearted air and they both knew that Dan held nor grudges for having hired his niece. "So Kyle you've got your whole vacation planned out right?
"Yes sir, I'm going camping in the forest. I want to try and get a few drawings done, I'm definitely going to do a few water colors."
"Don't forget to try and do up a few good landscapes that we can use as back drops." Dan hinted playfully. Kyle gave him a bright grin.
"As long as you're willing to pay for them."
"Smart lad, smart lad. Don't worry though, I mean to pay you for every single one this time around."
"Sir you don't have to. I was joking, really."
"No I'm going to pay you for them. You worked so hard on all of the displays that you did awhile back and never once asked for any kind of payment. Now that business is finally at an all time high I'm going to pay you for ALL of your work."
"But..."
"No buts about it."
