This is a story I wrote years ago and might comb through again for better editing and maybe add more at a later date.
Chapter 2: Unexpected Changes
The week in the woods had ended much differently than Kyle had planned. For one he had become the keeper of a gem that now resided in him. The next thing was that now he had a forest demon/elf by the name of Navic following him that he had freed. Navic had been imprisoned for a century for a crime that he didn’t commit. Now though Navic said that Kyle was both his savior and future mate, the later of the two causing him the most problems. They were both male, but that didn’t seem to bother Navic in the slightest bit. Kyle had awoken on several occasions finding the forest demon./elf snuggled against him. At times he would be walking or taking a break from his watercolors and Navic would start a kissing session that would leave him weak in the knees and very much breathless. He constantly told both Navic and himself that he didn’t want a male for a life mate, but the tiny voice in his mind would laugh at such ravings and remind him about how much he enjoyed that passionate kisses and how he loved to stare at the half naked forest demon/elf. Slowly even his dreams began to feature Navic.
Finally the final night came. Navic watched curiously as Kyle began to gather together many of his belongings. Navic cold tell easily that Kyle would be leaving soon, but he found that their time together in his beloved forest had been all to short for his liking, but he wasn’t going to argue.
“When are we leaving?” Navic asked as he stoked their camp fire.
“We? I don’t know about we, but I’m leaving at sunup.” Kyle told him as he carefully put away all of his dry water color paintings. Many were of the waterfall and the surrounding plants, but he had also done a few of the forest demon/elf and his charcoal sketch book had a good number of drawings of Navic. He was especially fond of one that he had done of Navic while he had been sleeping.
“Well then we leave at sunup.” Navic said brightly.
“What is it with this we thing? I’m going home you live here.” Kyle said indicating the surrounding forest.
“I did over a hundred years ago, now I live with my termanda. Where you go I go.”
“Navic you don’t seem to get it. I’m not your mate or what ever it is that you call me. I can’t be because you’re a guy and I’m a guy hell we are even two different… species.”
“Zi? I mean so?” Navic couldn’t see the problem with the species thing since he was after all half demon and half elf.
“Argh! Navic humans don’t normally stick with their own sex when they are looking for a mate.”
“Well that is their loss. You see we of the forest don’t really care. We generally go by the scents of others. Hell my parents had dozens of lovers before they finally scented right.”
“There you go then. You’ve got the wrong scent.” Kyle said glad that Navic had brought up a way out for him.
“Silly Kai, unlike my dull nosed parents I’m much better at scenting things and your scent is the right one for my mate.” Navic said as he walked up to Kyle. Gently he forced him to sit down and then knelt in front of the smaller man. “I’ve never scented anyone who’s one scent drives me this crazy.” he said as he began to nuzzle Kyle’s throat.
