One step at a time

Chapter 6

After the hard, death game of dodgeball everyone went back to school. Since we were on a College campus we had to walk back to school.
On Li's way back to school, Matt the Junior came by with his car and stopped. He asked the guy in front of Li who was just 16 inches away if he wanted a ride then;
"Hey! Li! Want a ride?"  Matt asked.
Li looks over at the car and answers back.
"No . I'm okay, thanks though."
With that Li keeps walking while Matt drives off.
Getting to the school Li trudges her way up the stairs and puts her stuff away.
She grabs her backpack from the bathroom and goes to her classroom.
She opens the door to her freshman class cheering on Ryan and Alex a senior arm wrestling.
She goes to her seat which is occupied by Ryan trying to win this match.
Li plops her stuff on the ground next to the chair.
"How long will this go?" Asks Li.
"We don't know probably till we are called on." Answers one of the guy students.
"Great." Li says.
Li walks to her locker and crouches down opening it. She grabbed her algebra 1 book and was about to get up when someone bumped into her. She fell down on her butt "Ow." Says Li. "My my no help."
"I bet they just didn't see you." Says Tony while extending a hand and smiling.
"Of course,they were preoccupied with the nervous indigestion of talking in front of millions of people." Li says while smiling back.
Tony stood there gaping. "Uh um uh t-tha- .....seriously?"
"What I don't know for sure just makes more sense then pushing me out of the way when obviously you have a big plot of floor between me and that person."
"I don't know how to respond...to that."
"Oooh your not the first, no worries."
With that Li patted Tony's shoulder and went down to the math room. Tony just stood there smiling saying to himself.
"Not interested no care not trying just... being her hm great girl."
*Boom* Li jumped at the sound before she peeked in she heard. "Woohoo go Ry!"
Li peeked her head in to see Ryan helping his opponent back up.
She raises a eyebrow." What you had to take him out? I never knew arm wrestling could be so dangerous."
Ryan looks at her and says." It's a very competitive sport. What never knew?"
"No did not, thanks for showing me, ya didn't have to."
Li walks down stairs to the Cafe.
"Is she always this sassy?" Asks Ryan.
"No yes well sometimes but she doesn't do it in a mean way. She is nice." Answers Ova Li's classmate.
"Sometimes sassy? Awesome. that tells a lot."
"Well she is new we don't know her well enough." Chirps in another student.
"Then I think we need....a class party for the new students." Says Ryan smiling.
"Yeah that would be awesome." Says student 2
"Perfecto." Student 1
Everyone start voicing there opinions on the party.
"Okay okay everyone." Says Layla getting in front of the class." What we need for this party is a lot of stuff. We need food-"
"I got that."
"Drinks." Says Layla.
"Gotcha."
"And a decorating group. Everyone else bring games and snacks." Says Layla." Okay now scram teach is coming."
Everyone starts leaving the math class going down to lining up to visit the army museum.
Ryan walks up to Layla. " That's awesome Layla thanks for the help."
"Oh no problem just doing my job. I want to meet the new kids to." Layla says walking out of the room.
