the girl in the dress wasnt a figment of my imagination

i was walking back to my car after school had finished and saw the girl in the dress again.

a short, plain purple silk dress was what she was wearing today.

she didn't seem to ever wear shoes.

a boy walked past her and looked at her, clearly as confused as i was.

the boy muttered something that i couldn't understand, but the girl in the dress definitely could.

she looked angry for a second, but replaced her frown with her innocent smile. blue eyes beaming.

she watched him as he walked away.

she quickly nodded her head.

the boy tripped over.

she turned her head slowly and set her gaze on me, head tilted.

i got into my car and started the ignition.

she was still watching me. eyes unblinking. head tilted.

i drove out of the parking lot and took one last glance at the girl.

she was standing up straight. looking at me with sad eyes.

i drove away.
