(Dipper's POV)

There was a circular patch of grass in the middle of the dark room, with bright light from who knows where shining down on it.

"Well that doesn't seem suspicious at all," I remarked sarcastically before heading towards the giant exit of the cave. I took a few steps when suddenly,

"Howdy!"

"Ahhh!!" I screamed at the source of the unexpected voice. A yellow flower, seemingly larger
than the size a regular flower, had appeared on the suspicious patch of grass. The weirdest part about it was the fact that it had a pair of beady eyes and a grinning mouth plastered on its "face". I could only assume that the anonymous voice came from......that.

"Hey there talking flower!" Mabel replied back as she waved her hand at it. I expected the flower to somehow "wave" back with its leaves but then I realized that it didn't have any leaves growing out of its stem in the first place. How does this plant creature survive without leaves for photosynthesis?

"Uh, hi?" I also replied, but with uncertainty and confusion in my tone.

"I'm Flowey. Flowey the flower!" the creature introduced itself cheerfully, his facial expression remaining the same. Something about that cheeky smile seemed faked to me.

"I'm Mabel! And this is my bro Dipstick!" Mabel answered back as she pointed finger guns at me when she said my nickname.

"Hmmm...You're new to the underground aren'tcha?" Flowey said, slowly inspecting us from head to toe,"Golly, you must be so confused!"

"I-"

Before I could respond properly, Flowey immediately continued in its high-pitched voice.

"Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will to do."

"Why does this flower somehow remind me of Gideon?" I softly whispered to Mabel, who answered with a shrug.

"Ready?" Flowey asked, anticipating for an answer.

"Ready as I'll ever be!" Mabel exclaimed, getting ready for a lesson from a talking flower.

"Here we go!"

Without warning, everything went pitch black. When I took a look at my hands, they seemed almost transparent, like they were made of thin wax paper. A red heart was resting on my chest, emitting a warm sensation throughout my body. The only other things that I could see were Flowey, Mabel's also translucent body with another glowing red heart on her chest, and a white outline that trapped me and Mabel in a box.

"See that heart? That is your soul, the very culmination of your being!" Flowey explained from the other side of the box.

"Pretty!" Mabel picked up her own levitating red heart in her hands. I just awkwardly stared at mine.

"Your SOUL starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV."

Before I could open my mouth with a response, Flowey had already cut me off, "What does LV stand for?"

"Level?" I answered with the basic knowledge of video games.

"Why, LOVE, of course!" the yellow flower said, proving my answer wrong.
