The sky was grim and the battlefield was littered with the deceased. Bodies of both the enemy and that of family consumed the once magical and carefree school grounds. Our young hero stood in the middle observing the horrors with shadowed eyes.
Harry clenched his hand in frustration. Nothing but a mere puppet, a tool, with the headmaster and wizarding world as his masters. A young boy whose hand was forced to murder. A child playing grownup games whose consequences he knew absolutely nothing about.
Everything was already planned for him. Every little thing right down to who he would marry and who he would be friends with. Harry wasn't stupid, he knew exactly why the red-head boy and muggleborn wanted to have his friendship. Their blatant jealousy and lack of any real trust had shown him that much. Harry wanted a way out. He refused to remain a pawn for the light. But first he needed to leave. And soon.
All his scattered thoughts were pointless for fate decided to bless him. It came to him in the form of a flash of lightening and stormy blue wings. The surrounding air crackled with energy. Clutched in the beak of this magnificent beast was a roll of very fine parchment. Addressed in glittering gold ink and beautifully calligraphy. Harry quickly observed his surroundings and saw that no one had noticed the shockingly beautiful scene. With shaking hands Harry opened the letter and what was inside had him frozen to the spot. Quickly whipping out his wand from his pocket he cast a Notice-Me-Not charm.
Slowly Harry reread the letter to himself:

The shock of having an opportunity to go to another school was significant. Harry couldn't help the wave of excitement that raced through his body. Thoughts of getting a fresh start and being able to escape from the wizards and witches who were set on running his life. He would be able to make his own decisions without the pressure of pleasing everyone else. Harry let a small smile come to his face. His days as being a puppet were over. He would no longer have to bow down and do what they expected him to do. He would be free to make his own mistakes without the worry of everyone shunning him.
Without a second thought, he moved his wand to his hand and cast a small cutting charm. Blood dripped from his clenched hand and to the paper staining it red and with a soft whoosh his letter was gone.
Harry inhaled and exhaled for a couple of moments letting the shock and excitement run through him and he slowly began to calm himself. After doing a couple of deep breathing exercises, Harry was finally calm. The calmness left him in a burst as the form of a person appeared before him. There were no signs of a portkey or even of apparition.
The man was around average height around 5' 9" with soft looking ebony hair that curled around his sharp facial featured and brushed his shoulders softly. His eyes were a reflective silver and he wore a gray sweater with light wash jeans. The pale skin stuck out the most to Harry and it seemed as if it reflected them stars that were overhead.
The man gave Harry a soft pleasant smile. "Hello love, my name is Felix Andrews, and I teach Blood magic. Are you ready to start the enrollment process?" The man's plump red lips parted to reveal fanged teeth.
'This teacher is a vampire!' Harry thought in surprise. "Do not be afraid little one I know better than to feed from unwilling students." The dark-eyed man smirked at the unwilling part, sending an odd shiver down Harry's spine. 'What does he mean by that? Why would I ever be willing?' "Are you ready to get going Lord Potter?" The teacher questioned with his smirk still intact.
Harry was about to nod but then thought of something. "Professor, I was wondering if it would be all right if we changed my looks up a bit. I'm tired of people looking at me the way they do." Harry's voice was soft but held an underlying key of desperation.
Felix looked at Harry in shock but quickly composed himself. "Very well. What would you like to do? New clothes? A different hair style or color? Maybe a piercing?" His voice held a mocking edge. Harry raised an eyebrow not impressed with the lack of respect.
"Well Sir, how about we do all of that? I certainly am ready for a change." Harry answered softly.
The vampire couldn't help but smile at the boys resolve. Kid certainly had spunk. "You and I are going to get along just fine, Lord Potter. I can't wait to see how the others react to you." Harry looked at him in confusion. " Our school rarely invites humans, such as yourself, to join. You are in-fact the fifth one to come in over ten years. Two of which left within the first semester. One technically died. I can't wait to see how you do." The words held some humor yet didn't hold a sinister undertone.
"Don't worry Professor Andrews, I've had many attempts on my life. None of which succeeded. I think that I will do just fine in this school of yours."
Felix smiled at the young wizard. 'We certainly made a good decision with this one'.
"Are you ready to go, Lord Potter? We have a lot of things we need to accomplish and in a short amount of time, so we better get started." Felix stated holding out his pale hand for the young wizard to grab.
And just like that Harry began his new life.
His new life on the path that he chose himself.
