Iris' POV

I get the feeling that Oak is not doing so well. I want to comfort him more but...I felt like he will not listen to me.

I met Oak as a happy, mischievous, playful, and...caring.

When I sometimes fall if I'm dancing, he quickly appears and help me stand up.

We are about the same age and height but mostly I don't want to admit that he is an inch taller than me.

I got midnight blue eyes and he's got midnight green eyes. He has those amazing dance moves. Sometimes when I am still sleeping, my parents will let him go to my room and wake me up. He's the best...

I confess that I'm not like this.

I'm not happy and playful. I just want to be like this so no one would ever know my secret.

Oak is still the same since the day I hadn't talked to him. I didn't talk to him for sometime. He is very popular in the village. He is sometimes surrounded by his friends and plays with them for sometime. One thing is for sure that he doesn't forget about me.

I have a reason why I didn't talk to him. It's much more a secret.

"Iris?" I snapped out of my thoughts to see Oak beside me limping a little.

"What! Nothing's wrong! Did I do something! Maybe I did something! Sorry I'm not paying much attention! I-" I rambled only to be interrupted by Oak's voice.

"Iris calm down. You're just unusually quiet that's all." Oak smiled as he said it to me.

I blushed a little but hid it by looking down. I'm slightly embarassed by these kind of things. I'm not the troll others know about me. I a troll that pretends to be happy. Oak knows it, he knows that I'm not that happy.

I'm really sure that I'm not pretending around Branch and Poppy. Even though they are older than me they are fun to be with. They make me feel more happy like I matter. Not the kind of matter my parents give me but enough to make me very happy.

"So their names are Poppy and Branch." Oak said as he walked and me balancing on a log towards a high path.

"How did you know?" I said as I almost lost my balance.

He chuckled as he looked upward like he is in deep thought.

"She's the princess and she mentioned the troll's name earlier." he said as a matter of fact.

I groaned and suddenly I stepped on a slippery part of the log.

"Whoa!" I shouted before I felt two little arms surround me.

I looked up and saw Oak almost stumbling down. A crimson blush on my face as I standed up on my own.

"Thanks" I said as I walked before Oak.

"No problem" he said as he straighted his clothes. His bandaged leg didn't go unnoticed. It didn't mess up but since Oak standed up properly to catch me it didn't affect it.

I stopped with my blood running cold.

Oak went beside me with concern in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" he said as he looked at my eyes.

"What if...what if we arrived late and all of them are eaten?" I said quietly with tears in my eyes are starting to form.

"They're all going to die because we didn't reach them on time maybe...I was the one who caused them this." I said as tears started to fall.

I standed there with Oak looking at me.

I looked down because I don't want him to see me like this. Crying made me weak the first time I did it. I cried when someone was lost...someone very important to me...
