Heidi was leaning against the counter on her hip, watching 'About A Boy' on her laptop, slowly stirring some stir fry. She jumped when she heard a loud ringing, banging her head on a cabinet.

"Shit, ow." She turned the stove down and stomped into the living room where Kassie's phone was going off, sitting under her latest tomb which was also hiding granola bar wrappers. The contact that popped up read 'Matty.' Heidi contemplated answering, but knew the hell she'd get, so she simply waited until he left a voicemail hopping from one foot to the other. Finally he finished and she grabbed the phone, listening too it.

    "So...Uh, call me back..."

"Call me back?" Heidi made a face, shaking her head, "You idiot..." She replaced the phone and covered it back up, leaving the wrappers under the book as well, though she desperately wanted to clean up the wrappers. "Completely clueless... they're perfect for each other... Call me back..." Heidi muttered to herself, returning to the stove to finish her dinner, as she had returned home two hours later than Kassie, after a major errand run.

    ***

Kassie walked into the living room, searching for her phone. She had to get into work early that day. Thursdays were her late days, weirdly enough. She dressed down, knowing that Heidi would want to go through all of her nicer clothes to pick out for the date, blind or not.

She began yanking the couch cushions up, managing to find the T.V. remote.

"What are you looking for?" Heidi asked, walking out of her room with her hair perfectly clipped back, dressed in a red skirt, white shirt, and navy blue blazer, her pumps thumping as she walked. Her look was stark different to Kassie,  who looked frazzled, stressed, and her hair could probably use other brush through.

"My phone. I'm going to be late, and what if you have an accident, or get fired, or what if I get fired, or have to make a ransom call or, hey Matt, Matty is supposed to call me." Kassie ranted, yanking up another cushion.

"Kassie, Kas!" Heidi pulled the phone out from under the book laying on the nightstand, one that Kassie had been reading last night, and waved it around.

Kassie made a face, "How'd you find that? You know what- I don't care, I have to go. Talk later!" She tossed the words over her shoulder, grabbing her bag and running out the door.

     Heidi shook her head. "Bye..."

"Wait!" Kassie ran back through the door, holding her phone up, a few moments later. "Call me back! He said to call him back! That means I have to call him back! What-What..."

Heidi shook her head and sighed, dropping her purse and phone on the island. "Gimme." She held out her hand and then cleared her throat, singing a few octaves.

"What are you doing?" Kassie asked.

"How do you think  I pay your bills?" Heidi said in a soft voice that sounded a lot like Kassie's. Kassie made a terrified face, not knowing that Heidi could do that. She dialed Matt's number and waited for him to answer.

"Hello?" Heidi's eyes widened at his voice, it was soft with a childishness to it, yet still thick with sleep. Sexy. His voice was sexy.

"Uh, yeah, it's Kassie. You called and asked about this afternoon. I'm free after six." Heidi smiled innocently.

"Um, who-who is this? I- are you her roommate?" His voice asked, sounding confused.

Heidi's eyes flew wide and her lips parted. She pressed the phone into her chest. "Oh my god..." She blushed for Kassie and held the phone out.
