Karen gently knocked on the fogged glass of Matthew's office and received the expected 'come in.'

"Hey," She said with a smile that faded when she noticed Foggy was in there with him. "Um, Bearman called regarding his watch dog..."

"Oh, yes, thank you." Matt replied, adjusting his tie.

"Wh-Why are you getting all dressed up? A meeting I don't know about?"

"You could say that." Foggy laughed, re-adjusting the tie for Matt.

"What?" Karen asked, assuming the worst. A date.

"I have a date." Matt sighed, pulling on his blazer.

"Oh- With who?" Kara asked, trying to seem nonchalant about it. She perched on the corner of his desk, crossing her arms.

"He met her at church. I keep telling him it won't end well." Foggy said, "But it doesn't have to go far, right Matt?"

"Thanks, Foggy." Matt sighed. "I met her outside the church."

Karen made a face and bit her lip. "Well, I've got to go file these but, have fun."

"Thank you." Matt replied swatting Foggy away.

Karen dropped the file onto Matt's desk and walked out of the door, pulling it tightly shut behind her.

She shook her head and got to work, trying to distract herself from the pained throb in her chest.

It was stupid to feel jealous of a girl she'd never met over a guy who didn't know she liked him.

This wasn't the first date Matt went on since she had known him, but this was the first one he looked... excited about. Changing his shirt, his tie, bragging to Foggy.

And a girl at church? No way that turns into a one night stand.

It wasn't fair to Matt to feel jealous and be offish. He didn't know that she liked him and even if he did there was no guarantee he would ever consider her.

Karen froze and realized she had been scribbling away at a check, ripping holes in the paper.

She squeezed her eyes shut and pressed her hands against the table.

    "God..."

She pinched the bridge of her nose, told herself to get over and went back to work.

And it lasted. Her mind slipped into a call numbness until Matthew opened the door, looking nice and sleek, his mouth in a cute crooked smile and sightless eyes hidden behind his red glasses.

"See you tomorrow, Karen. Don't work too late."

"Bye, Matt." She sighed as he walked out of the door. "I lo-"

"Man," Foggy said as he walked out of the office, files in hand and leaned against the door, "He's not been like that in a while."

"Oh?" Karen said, keeping her red eyes down-cast.

"Yeah, he seemed," Foggy sighed and shrugged, walking to his office, "Kind of excited."

    ***

"Oh, Kassie, you look so pretty." Heidi gushed, touching up her mascara.

"Yeah." Kassie looked into the bathroom mirror, "I really do..."

She pushed her hair around and smiled. Kassie had yet to tell Heidi that her date really wouldn't care what she looked like.

"Okay." She squealed, clapping her hands, "Make me proud."
