A/N-- I used the song Fire Escape by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness as inspiration for this, feel free to listen to the song as you read.
There's a million city lights, but you're number one. You're the reason why I'm still up at dawn, just to see your face. We'll be going strong with the vampires, baby. We belong, we belong awake.
Moving to London was one of the biggest decisions you could have ever made. You were thousands of miles from your family and had no friends and no idea of anything to do at all. after your first week of being in London, you had successfully unpacked and nearly filled your cozy flat. Thankfully the weather had been nice and you were able to go out for dinner almost every night that week.
After a week of putting off exploring, you decided to go out. Since the weather was getting colder by the hour, you made sure to layer up with jeans, socks, boots and even threw on a jacket and scarf over your sweater. Better safe than sorry, right?
Setting out and going down the stairs of the complex, you were hit in the face with a gust of cold air. It was a dry cold and you were grateful for the lack of snow. Walking down the road, you looked around. You tried to find places to go into, things like boutiques and small cafes.
You ended up going to a random coffee shop, not being able to handle the cold for much longer. You had hoped to find the shop quiet and kind of empty, but sadly you were met with clanks of metal and a somewhat rowdy group of boys. You glanced at the group, but didn't give them a second thought. They seemed like the kind of people to catcall women who totally weren't in the mood for it. You quietly gave the nice barista your order, passing her the cash you had exchanged your currency for at the immigration office. You shoved your change down into the pocket of your jeans. As you waited, you couldn't help but look at the group of boys. Most of them were quite tall, a couple shorter ones mixed in too. The tallest one, a blonde, stood out the most. You couldn't help but stare at them and a couple of them, another tall blonde and a dark skinned boy in a hat, were quick to notice you staring. As soon as you saw them nudge their buddies, you quickly looked away. Great, you thought, my first day here and I'm already drawing unnecessary attention. It was just your luck that three of the boys got up and ordered more drinks. They were soon standing almost right beside you. Your eyes darted around, trying to avoid staring at the boys that seemed to tower over you.
"I don't think we've seen you in here before," said the tall blonde. He was cute, he gave off the best friend vibe and you absolutely adored his dimple. "I'm Simon and these are my friends Vik and Tobi." He smiled at you.
"I'm Y/N, it's nice to meet you." You said, giving a small wave at the two boys behind Simon.
"She's definitely not from here, JJ owes me five pounds." The dark boy, Tobi, said to his friends.
"It was nice to meet you boys, but I have to go." You took your drink and quickly made your way past the boys and out the door to the coffee shop. Shaking your head free from the nerves, you walked briskly back to your flat and decided to just sit out on the fire escape with your blanket. You looked out over the new city, thinking about how lovely it would look at night. Maybe you would go out later, you had the change in your pocket which was surely enough to cover your subway ride. Your legs dropped between the bars of the fire escape, just swinging your feet back and forth as you thought about all the ideas you had as a kid. Your biggest dream was finally made reality. You were here, you were in London. You were never moving back.

That night you had decided to go out. Since meeting people in the morning got your nerves acting up, you decided you'd just have to get over it. You couldn't go the rest of your life without making friends and going out to a club to dance might be a great way. Who knows, you might get invited to hang out at someone's home afterwards. Although you never read into it, you kind of hoped the tall blonde with the messy hair would be where you were going. The club was nearby so maybe he would stay in this neighborhood.
After dressing yourself up a bit, you were sat in a cab en route to the club. Upon arrival, you paid the driver with the change from earlier and got out. You had only worn your faux leather jacket, something that you would be able to wear all night, but also something that you wouldn't mind going missing. When you got inside your nose was instantly met with the strongest mixture of sweat, perfume, and Axe that you have ever smelled. You wove your way through the crowds and to the bar, getting an alcohol free drink so that you would be aware of anything happening tonight. A flash of bright blue in the corner of your eye made you turn your head. You almost instantly recognized the Tobi boy from earlier in a bright blue snapback. I wonder if he lives in hats, you thought to yourself. Figuring that he was here on his own, you went over and pasted a smile on your face
"Tobi, isn't it?" You asked, having to yell to be heard over the pounding bass and other loud voices. The boy's head turned and you saw him look you up and down, recognition slowly coming over his features. "Yeah, you're the girl from the coffee shop." He smiled, holding out his hand which you shook politely. "Are you here alone?" He asked you, leaning in a bit to be heard better over the noises of the club. "Yeah," you nodded, disappointment laced in your voice.
"Oi, Tobi what is taking so long?" You heard a voice yell out. You couldn't place the accent as it was definitely a mix of many. You glanced over and your eyes moved upward slowly, only to be met with a pair of beautiful blue ones. You didn't notice how dead silent you were until you heard him clear his throat. "Who is this?" He asked, glancing at Tobi. "This is Y/N, she was the girl at the coffee shop this morning." The blonde nodded, giving you another glance up and down. "Would you like to come to our table?" Tobi offered, holding out his hand. You took it hesitantly. These boys were certainly friendly and it was sure to be a wild night.

Nearing midnight, you found yourself squished in an Uber with four tall boys and a girl named Sarah. You had found out all of their names and were surprised to learn that they all made videos on YouTube for a living. Lucky for you, they invited you over to their flat for a movie or two. At the moment you were pressed between Tobi and a boy who everyone picked on for being from Guernsey. You were seated right across from Callum, the blonde boy you were drawn to. The two of you would constantly make eye contact through the drive, a blush creeping on to your cheeks. By the time you reached their building, you were sore and your foot had nearly fallen asleep.
Their flat was high up and the way it was organized was very nice. Everyone piled onto the couch or sat on the floor with their backs on other people's legs. As a guest, you were given a spot on the couch, once again squished between to giants. A Cal sat on either side of you, kind of heating you up from the cold air outside. Blankets were tossed about until everyone was covered. The movie began, some comedy that you really weren't invested in. You were constantly looking over Callum to see the view out of the window. By the end of the movie, most everyone was asleep and Callum had gotten up to get a drink. You quietly went out on to the balcony, one of their thick blankets wrapped around your shoulders. You were shaken from your thoughts with the sound of the balcony door opening and closing. In no time, Callum was beside you, looking out over the city. He passed you a steaming mug of a liquid you couldn't quite see. "You're not trying to drug me, are you?" You chuckled, glancing over at him to see him crack a smile. The two of you sat in silence, looking out over all of the city lights.
"Do you think that everyone sees the beauty in this sight?" You sighed, taking a sip from the drink he made you. "I certainly don't think anyone sees the beauty in you." You heard him say quietly. His words made your cheeks heat up quickly. "I know we only met today, but I would really like to show you some better views. Views you can't get from a fire escape."
"I'd like that."
A/N-- Well this was my first one shot and I don't know how it was? Should I continue writing one shots? Should I continue this story? Let me know! Thank you again to XIXMel for giving me the inspiration for this!
