While ignoring the sensation that my head was going to explode at any time now, i walked the streets, checking and re-checking the corners he would normally be on. Eventually i did find him.
Putting my arm over his shoulder s: "You wouldn't happen to have any morphine pills on ya, would you?"
Darin grinned, glancing around before reaching into his jacket handing me a small bag: "I always have at least some stashed."
: "You're the best."
Darin mockingly bowed: "I know."
: : Oh, stand up. I got something to ask."
Darin straightened up, putting his hands in his pockets: "What's on your mind?"
: "You hear about a rather expensive ruby necklace being stolen two nights ago?"
Darin shrugged: "Maybe, maybe not. Does this have something to do with why your heads wrapped up?"
: "Yeah, it does. That necklace belonged to a friend of mine."
Darin: "What happened to you?"
: "This person, who stole the necklace, took a two by four to my head. Now do you know anything about the name Secora?"
Darin: "Secora huh. That's who got you? I didn't think she could do that."
I sighed: "Trust me, She's got an arm. Now do you know anything?"
Darin: "Word going round is she's just another cat burglar, nothing special."
: "Any idea where she's hiding out?"
Darin scratched his head: "I don't know. It's getting kinda fuzzy."
I rolled my eyes, knowing he would do this: "I've got a 100 with your name on it if you can 'remember' where she's at."
Darin: "Wow, the fog is..."
: "Shut up and get on with it."
Darin: "You just contradicted yourself, which do you want me to do?"
: "You know what i meant!"
Darin: "You're just so easy to mess with."
: "Focus Darin!"
Darin: "Ok, ok, chill. Now don't take my word for it, but i heard she was staying at a storage facility near the Greenbelt Nature Center and a deals going down tomorrow afternoon."
: "And where did you come across this information?"
Darin turned away: "You know i can't divulge me sources."
: "Fine, fine. Here." I handed him the 100 and walked off.
I decided to walk back to the park, instead of taking another cab. Exercise is good, even if it is absolutely freezing outside. You'd think since I've lived here my whole life i'd be used to it by now, but nope.
The park came into view soon enough. My direction altered, leading me to the tree line. To where a man in a blue hoodie sat, leaning against a tree.
I poked at his leg with my foot: "You sleeping Cyrus?"
He slowly lifted his head, his eyes set in a slight glare: "Not anymore."
: "What are you doing sleeping out here? You'll catch hypothermia or something."
Cyrus: "I got kicked out. To many noise complaints and no i wouldn't. The worst i would get would be a cold. You know i handle the cold well."
: "Well i don't. It's freezing out here." For emphasis, i crossed my arms and shivered.
