I knocked on the wooden door three times, holding the pizza box to the side.
A voice from inside the apartment: "Coming. Coming."
Adelaide opened the door with a smile.
raising the still warm box towards her: "Pizza delivery!"
Adelaide: "Thank you so much. I was just debating what to do for supper. Come on in."
I followed her in shutting the door behind me and went into the kitchen with the two liter. After grabbing a couple cups from the cabinets and pouring the pop, i walked into the living room handing one of the cups to Adelaide.
I sat down on the couch next to her: "So, how you been doing?"
Adelaide: "I could be better. My mind has gone completely blank and the due date for the first chapter is next week."
: "You have any ideas? Got anything down?"
Adelaide let her head fall back against the couch: "Not a thing."
I tapped my chin, trying to look thoughtful: "Um, what about a doctor, who somehow gets mixed up with the mob and has to keep it a secret, but because she fears what the mob can do, she hires a ninja assassin to protect her? How does that sound?"
Adelaide stared at me for a second before scrambling to find some paper and a pen to write the idea down: "How do you come up with these ideas? This is great."
I shrugged: "Very creative imagination i guess. What about you? I've read how you kill some off your characters in your books and yet you seem so innocent when i'm with you."
Adelaide: "Toushe, my dear friend."
We talked about random things for awhile. Just enjoying each others company, but got interrupted by a loud clap of thunder that rattled the walls, that was quickly followed by the sound of a downpour.
: "I thought it looked like rain earlier."
Adelaide: "Looks like you'll be spending the night here."
:"And here i was thinking you were going to send me out into the rain."
Adelaide halfheartedly glared at me: "You know i wouldn't do that."
: "I know, i know, i was just messing with you."
Adelaide stood up: "I'll go get the blankets."
She walked down a hallway, coming back with a few blankets. We made a make shift bed and said good night to each other. I got under the covers for some much needed sleep, but no sooner than i closed my eyes my phone started to ring.
I opened my eyes only to be blinded by the bright sunlight coming through the window causing me to quickly shut my eyes again. My hand stretched out, patting different spots on the coffee table repeatedly trying to find my phone. The ringing was now on the edge of annoyance.
Finally i found the device. I squinted my eyes open in an attempt to read the caller ID. It was Finn, haven't heard from him in awhile.
After sliding the answer bar. i put the phone up to ear and said "Whoever woke me up is going to die, but seriously what's up Finn haven't heard from you in awhile?"
Finn: "Considering it's almost one in the afternoon, i figured you'd be up by now."
Yawning: "Well, i wasn't."
Finn: "I realized that, but i have a favor to ask of you."
: "Sure, what'cha need?"
Finn: "The museum's lack of visitors is causing a strain on the budget."
