I woke up to a knock on my bedroom door. I stood up and looked down. When did I take my shirt off? I opened the door and saw Lisa standing there, her hair messy and a tired expression on her face.

"Good morning." She smiled a little bit. I gave a small smile back.

"Morning." She made her way over and sat next to me on my bed.

"There's no way to make what happened yesterday sound any less, how would you say, mean and awkward. So I'm just gonna say it. Ryder, I didn't mean that at all in any way. You aren't a jerk, and you aren't stupid, you just get into a lot of trouble. That's all I meant. And that's not a bad thing, I just can't date someone who's constantly in the office and could potentially get me in trouble too."

"Lisa, I don't like you like that." I stated. Honestly, I couldn't tell if I was lying to her or not. I sure hope I'm not lying, I'm not going down that road again. I've been there once, and it's a dark place.

"Ryder." She snapped her fingers in front of my face, causing me to shake my head.

"Huh? Yeah, umm, what?"

"You were saying something."

"Oh, yeah. It's just that I'm glad we're friends again. I thought asking you about that stuff would help us, would bond be the word to use?" She gave me a small smile and stood up.

"Well, thanks for trying, but I don't think things will get back to how they used to be."

"I know, and I'm sorry for back then. I was going through some things, but now it's over." I smiled back at her and stood up too. I saw her walk to my door.

"If you need anything, just shoot me a text and I'll be right over. Now, you got lucky because I have to go. I'll be over later today so we can study. Bye Ryder." And like that she was gone. I heard the front door close just before my phone rang, signalling a text.

"Text from: Halton.

    The Plan.

When: Tomorrow at sharp noon
Where: The Pizzeria
What: 1 ton of pizza sause and a group of girls, including Lisa

Be there at 11:30 or it'll be you next dweeb. See ya there bro."

I smiled at his usual banter and started to get dressed. This won't ruin mine and Lisa's friendship, right? We're friends. Halton and I prank each other all the time. I mean, shit, the amount of times I've ended up with some disgusting mystery substance all over me is uncountable. I threw on some black jeans, a grey shirt and went to check on Noel. I walked into the baby blue room and smiled at him. Still asleep. At least I still have one family member left. I picked him up and walked downstairs to the kitchen, sitting Noel in a high chair at the table. I started to cook breakfast. Pancakes, sausage, toast, and orange juice. Sounds good to me. I just finished the last pancake when I got a knock at my door. I opened it to Lisa standing there.

"Hey Smalls, what's up?" I smiled at her as she squeals. "Never mind, your name is still squeaky." I corrected as she ran in and jumped around. "Yo, settle down." I laughed, grabbing her shoulders. She stopped jumping and took a long breath in, then out. "Okay, now tell my why you're so jumpy."

"Jamie asked me out!!" She yelled as loud as possible.

"Oh, umm, that's amazing." I say, not meaning it so much that it came out as such a bland tone. She gave me a look that even disappointed me.

"You aren't happy, are you?"

"No, it's just that, I'm so happy, that I, umm, no, I can't, uhh-"

"Stop trying, I get it." She sighed.

"No. Lisa, that's not what I meant."

"Sure it's not. I get it. Seriously. It's fine. I'm just gonna go."

"You sure? I just made breakfast. Noel and I would love to have you to eat with us." I insisted, trying to get her to stay. I don't want to lose her to Jamie.

"That's okay, Jamie is taking me to the diner to eat on a date. Thanks though." She half smiled at me and walked out before I had the chance to oppose.

"Okay, I guess it's just you and me this morning." I sighed, walking back into the kitchen and sitting down across from the high chair. He just smiled and giggled. "Oh who am I kidding, you don't even know what's going on." I couldn't help but smile at him. He may be laughing at my complete failure, but he doesn't know. To him, I just simply walked back into the kitchen to feed him. I just sat down when the doorbell rang. "Damnit." I breathed out  before turning to Noel. "Don't repeat that." I laughed when the bell rand again. "Aye! Shut the fuck up! I'm coming! Don't get your knickers in a twist!" I yelled, hurrying to the door. I opened it and came face to face with two round lenses, making me roll my eyes.

"Hey Ryder, I just wanted to say hi. It's Jamie by the way." I pinched the bridge of my nose and let out a long breath.

"I know who you are Jamie. What do you w-" Lisa came into view, glaring at me. "Uuhhh, I mean how are you?" I immediately corrected through gritted teeth.

"Oh, I'm good man. Broski. Cool Joe. Ryman." I sighed again.

"Okay Jamie."

"Well, I best get going, I have a date to get to."

"I bet you do dick wad." I said as Lisa glared at me again. "I mean Jamie."

"Okay, bye friend."

"I'm not your friend and I'll shoot if you don't get off my lawn. So a good bye." I wave to him. Lisa gave me another death glare. "You too. Goodbye now." She rolled her eyes at me and walked off. Great. I ruined it....AGAIN! For fucks sake Ryder! You have to always ruin your chances....hold up. What am I even saying?! Why do I care so much. This damn girl.
