Rise to Fame (A One Direction Fanfiction)

Chapter 1

14-year-old Skylar Green was strumming on her guitar when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." She said. Her 17-year-old brother, Blake, was standing there.

"Dinner is ready," he began. "And when will you perform one of your songs to the family?"

Skylar looked at him and said, "when I become famous and you buy tickets to my show."

"Woah! Calm down, little sis! I didn't mean for you to get all defensive!" Blake said backing up.

Skyler rolled her eyes. "I'll be down in a minute. Let me put my guitar away."

Blake nodded and headed downstairs.

Skyler got to guitar case and laid her guitar in. She sighed as she closed the case.

"If only school could have music class all day," Skylar said that night at dinner. "Then my life would be complete. "

"Well, if you really want it, Skylar, maybe you should talk to the principal." Her dad, Michael said.

"Do you really think they would do that? "She asked, very hopeful!

Hi mom gave her a soft look. "No, sweetie. Unfortunately, not everybody loves music as much as you! Dad was just kidding."

"Yeah, but once you get home from school you always go into your room and have your own little music class. You constantly singing and playing guitar in there. It's like your own little concert." Blake said.

Skylar stuck her tongue out and Blake did the same to her.

After dinner, Skyler turned on the TV to a all-time favorite show, The X Factor. She stared in awe as her favorite singer stepped onto the stage.

"Still going crazy over what's his name?" Blake asked.

"His name is Trevor Cole and he's adorable!" She said defensively.

Blake chuckled at sat down next to her.

"So, have you decided when you're going to audition for this show?"

Skylar looked at him. "Are you crazy? I'm 14! I wouldn't last Boot Camp!"

"That's not true, Sky. I've seen 12 year olds make it to the judges house!" Blake said.

"Did they win?" Skylar asked.

"Well like I said, they made it to the judges house. They got let go there."

"Oh." Skylar said sadly.

"But they weren't very good. I'm sure you're a lot better." Blake added.

"Thanks." Skylar said feeling a little bit better.

After the show, she went to room and grabbed her guitar. She was currently writing a song, but she was having writers block at the moment.

She started playing around with some chords as she thought about dinner.

"Maybe I should audition for the X Factor," Skylar thought to herself. "If Blake thinks I'm good enough, I'd have to do it!! It would be so much fun!!"

Blake opened the door and rushed into Skylar's room.

"Hey!! What are you doing? You're supposed to knock before entering!!" She exclaimed.

"I know, I know. I'm a terrible brother, but that's not important right now. I've been doing some research and X Factor auditions are in six months. I think that you should audition, Skylar. In the six months that you are waiting, we could sign you up for vocal lessons and-"

Skylar cut him off. "I have to say, Blake. I've been thinking about this and I sort of want to audition. I think it would be fun!"

"Of course it would be!! And you would be amazing up on stage!!" He smiled. "So is that a yes? You'll audition?"

Skylar thought for a moment then said, "yeah. I think it would be a blast!!"

Blake jumped up and down for a while before leaving the room to tell their parents about the great news.

Skylar smiled to herself. She was extremely happy that she decided to do this.

"Wait-" Skylar said, "why not use this joy to write a song? I have a ton of ideas now!! I can write about how it feels to do something that you've always wanted to do!! I better get started!"

Blake knocked on her door.

"What??" Skylar asked.

Blake opened it a little and said, "stop talking to yourself. It's just sad."

He smiled as he closed the door.

Skylar rolled her eyes and started working on her new song.
