*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

Skylar peeked through her eyes and looked at the time. 5:15 AM?!?! Her mom must have set it for her.

She sleepily got out of bed and hopped in the shower. Today was the day she would audition for The X Factor. Oddly enough, she didn't have a set song she was going to sing. She had the music for: Daylight by Maroon 5, Glowing by Nikki Williams, and Burn by Ellie Goulding. She was going to put the CD in and see which song she could sing the best on the way to the audition.

After she showered, she brushed her teeth, got dressed, then brushed and fixed her hair.

"You ready, Sky?" Blake peeked his head in her room.

She nodded and grabbed her phone.

Her parents wasted no time putting in the CD and making her sing along in the car.

"Guys, give me a break! Its 6 in the morning!" She said.

"One can never have too much practice before a big audition!" Her dad said.

Skylar groaned and sang the whole way to the audition.

Soon, she was walking up to a lady behind a desk.

"Hello! May I have the name of the contestant please?"

She smirked and said, "Skylar Greene."

The lady behind the desk shuffled some papers and soon gave her a sticker with numbers on it. "Here you go! You are contestant number 53910! Good luck!!"

Skylar took a deep breath and got in line with her parents.

When she made it to the waiting room, she suddenly became extremely nervous.

"Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Blake said.

Skylar responded. "I don't know. Six months ago I thought this was going to be all fun and games. Now that I'm here it's all surreal. I'm a contestant on The X Factor. I could embarrass myself in front of millions of people, or I could be the next big thing."

Blake looked at her sympathetically and calmed her down before someone called her name.

"Skylar Greene?"

She looked up at him worriedly, but followed the guy backstage with her family.

"Hello, Skylar! I'm Kyle Hall and I'm the stage manager!"

Skylar hesitantly shook his hand and put on a fake smile.

"There is a group on stage now, and once they're done, three other contestants will be going on before you! People usually take this time to do some last minute vocal warm ups, but you can do whatever just as long as you're here in time for your audition! Do you have any questions?"

"Thanks!" Skylar smiled. "Do you have any advice for me before I go up there?"

Kyle smiled sweetly. "Once you get up there and look at the judges, there is a 100% chance you will freak out. Just remember that the judges aren't as scary as they look. They really are sweet and only want the best for you. Don't forget to smile and make your performance enjoyable for everyone even if you feel stupid."

Skylar laughed and nodded.

"Hey, mom? Will you tell me what song I'm gonna sing?"

"Sweetie, we want that to be a surprise for when you get on stage. You just have to know the difference between all of the music. I don't want you to be singing Burn if the music for Daylight is on."

"That's exactly what I'm afraid of! What happens if I completely forget which song I'm singing?" Skylar exclaimed nervously.

"You'll do great, Sky. Just think of what could happen if you make it on the show!"

The rest of the time before her audition was spent thinking about all the possibilities that could happen if she got a record deal.
