she is no longer safe here.
she needs to return to the castle.
i can't put her at risk.
she can't be eaten.
so, in the night,
i take her to the castle.
she doesn't want to leave.
her pleas are quiet.
her hands grip my fur.
she doesn't want to leave me.
i tell her it's for her own good.
she doesn't listen.
then i'm angry.
why can't she see?!
i growl at her.
a real growl.
a growl of a predator.
she stops speaking.
she lets go of me.
i nudge her towards the castle once more before fleeing back home.
i hear her cry out.
i pause.
i tilt my head to the sky full of stars.
i howl.
then i leave her by the tunnel.
