Eggs. Bacon. Pancakes.

My mouth watered at all the delectable smells I hadn’t tasted in so long. I smiled at the sound of the sizzling pan, then jumped up.

Who the heck was cooking in my kitchen?

I stretched and stood up from the couch to stare at the scarred but still beautiful, tanned back of Dominic. I slowly walked towards him and gently glided my fingers down the scars on his back. He shivered and turned quickly to face me.

“You’re finally awake. I hope you don’t mind me cooking breakfast.” I shook my head and he grinned at me. I then realized I was standing really close to him, so close that anytime he took a breath, his bare chest came close to brushing my clothes one.

I stepped back quickly, but inconspicuously. He just turned around and began to whistle as he cooked. I jumped up and sat on the counter next to where he was cooking. “Where did you learn to cook so good?”

“My mama, taught me as a little child.” I smiled at the affection spoken in his statement about his mom. It was clear that he really loved his mother.

“How comes your accent comes out sometimes and not others.” He gave me a curious gaze.

“It bothers you?” I shook my head quickly.

“I like your accent. It’s refreshingly different from my non accent.” We both laughed and he cleared his throat.

“Fine, I’ll talk like this around you.” I shivered at his accent and nodded. When he didn’t try and control his accent anymore, his voice became deeper and sexier.

If that was even possible.

He pulled the omelet out of the pan and put it on a plate and then turned off my stove. “Ready to eat?” I nodded and jumped off the counter. We walked to my living room and wrapped back up in the cover that we’d slept in.

I dug in and couldn’t prevent the moan that left my mouth. The food was so delicious, definitely better tasting than my bland food. “Oh gosh, can you just move in and cook for me?” He grinned and leaned closer to me.

“Who would I sleep with?” I froze, eyes wide, and he busted out laughing at me. “I’m kidding, Aves. Don’t worry.”

Trust me, I wasn’t worrying. I was thinking of all the things I’d do with him if he ever got into my bed. We finished eating silently when Dominic’s phone rang. “Hello?” His face went from care free to annoyed. “He what? He had the easiest job! And he begged for it!” He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

I stared questionably at him. He was clearly talking to another male, according to the deep voice leaving the phone. “Nobody else can come in? I’m busy right now.” He glanced over at me and smiled quickly, but it was clearly forced.

“Alright. I’m coming. I hope he knows he won’t be coming back for anything.” Dominic turned to me apologetically and I smiled.
