Paige's POV

As I walked into school I motioned a 'hello' with my hands to Mitch and Kate, greeting them. "Hey." Mitch looks at me, differently. "Hey, uh, can we talk?" He asked and bit his lip. He sounded a bit nervous, I don't know why though. "Sure, what's the matter?" I questioned and narrowed my eyebrows. "Did Jerome say anything to you about.." He paused, "Well, about something.. Involving you and me?" Oh god, what do I say? Do I say yes and then have Jerome be angry at me? Or do I say no and lie to Mitch? "No, why?" I'll talk to Jerome about this later.

He loosened up a bit, clearly not realising he was tense beforehand. "Oh, okay, I just thought he might have said something.. Never mind then." He smiled as he brushed past me and walked over to Jerome. "What happened?" Kate asked. "Mitch wanted to know if Jerome had said anything to me about me and Mitch being.. Together.." I whispered the last word as I bit my fingernails and furrowed my eyebrows. "What did you say!?" She asked, interested. I shushed her because she was talking very loud and the guys were looking at us like we were a bunch of weirdos.

I laughed at her reaction to the guys stares on us, especially when Jerome and Kate's eyes met and they both blushed. Mitch and I both looked at each other and shared a secret laugh at the both of them. "I said no. But I'm going to have to have a little, chat, with Jerome later." We both laughed as she was pulled out of her 'little lover's' staring competition. "Oh, okay. I won't say anything to Mitch." She smiled and turned her head back to face me. "Thanks, you really are the bestest friend anyone could ask for!" I grin like an idiot, mocking a five year talking to her best friend. "Aw, you too Paige." She grins back and we both laugh at our stupidity.

The lunch bell rang as we all went and sat together at our table. It was our senior year so we would be graduating fairly soon, seeming though the school year was ending in a few months."Jerome?" I asked. "Yes," he replied, obviously knowing what was coming. "Can we have a little, talk?" I questioned, having a quick glimpse at Mitch who was looking at Kate. "Ah, sure." He said, a little nervous. I grabbed him by the hair and pulled him up, not too hard to hurt him, but just hard enough to let him know I was angry. "Okay, walk and talk, bro." I told him. He nodded and started walking casually. "What have you said to Mitch? Because earlier today he asked If you had said anything to me about me and him being together.." He gulped. "What did you say to him..?"

I told Jerome the truth, feeling a little bit proud of myself for not telling Mitch. "I said no." Jerome's face went as white as a ghost. "Okay, well, I kind of told Mitch that I said everything to you.." He said quietly. I slowly turned my head and looked at Mitch, he was staring at both of us, he had a look in his eyes, I couldn't quite tell what it was though. It looked like anger, sympathy and all just a jumble of emotions."You did what!?" I whisper-yelled at him, but not too loudly so people wouldn't look at us.

The others could clearly see I was yelling by my hand movements and the reaction on my face. "I'm sorry Paige, you know he is my best friend, I couldn't just keep this kind of thing from him!" I fold my arms in front of myself and looked him straight in the eyes. I couldn't be angry at him, I probably would've done the same thing if it was I in his situation.  "Okay, okay, I understand. I don't know what to say to him anymore. I've already lied to him and he knows that now. He probably hates me now." I said as I let out a sigh."I don't think he hates you. I'll talk to him later okay?" Jerome said, sympathetically. "Okay, thanks Jerome." I replied and walked back to our table.

Kate looks at me, probably wondering what me and Jerome were saying about Mitch. I gave her a look, as to say that I would tell her later. She nodded in response. We continued to eat what was left of our lunch, Kate and Mitch had eaten some of ours while we were talking. Typical.
