The silence was broken by the sound of the doorbell. Jenna looked frightened in the direction of the door and Val also turned towards the door. "Make sure they leave," Jenna said. "Because if they don't..." Val got the clue and walked towards the door.

Val opened the door and saw Peta standing outside. At that moment he wanted to do right was scream at her to call the police and an ambulance, but he couldn't. "Hey P. what are you doing here?"
"I was looking for Sharna, I have been texting her, but she hasn't responded to any of my texts." "Well honestly she is out cold at the moment." And Val laughed, he hoped Peta would get the message and he hoped even more that Jenna would notice it. "She fell asleep on the couch and that is why she hasn't responded to any of your texts."
"I hope I didn't wake her."
"Well you know her, once Sharna's asleep, there is nothing that can wake her." Val saw Peta's face change and Val was relieved.
"Well if she is still asleep, I'll come back later."
"That is a good idea, bye P."
"Bye Val and tell Shar I passed by." Val closed the door and walked back inside.

"It is a good thing she left. If she had come in, who knows what might have happened."
"Jenna, please leave, you've hurt is both enough. Look at Sharna, she is bruised and unconscious. She needs a doctor, who knows what is going on."
"It is her own fault she is in this mess. If she hadn't start dating you, none of this would have happened."
"You can't choose who you fall in love with and I have fallen in love with Sharna and she with me.  We love each other Jenna and right now nothing is going to change that."

"Well, maybe you can't chose who you fall in love with, but you can choose not to start a relationship, or to break up a relationship."
"Jenna, you don't get it. I love Sharna that much. I would sacrifice my life for her." That last sentence hurt Jenna, because Val should be the one saying that about her.

From the corner of her eye, Jenna saw something moving outside near the street. Peta was walking outside, with a phone in her hand. Jenna didn't say anything, but she knew somehow, Val must have warned Peta. And right now that last one was going to call the cops. Jenna slowly stood up. "You say you would sacrifice your life for hers."
"Yes, Jenna, I would."

For a second Val thought Jenna was going to shoot him. But she turned around and pointed her gun at Sharna. "Well, you're too late." He saw Jenna aim at Sharna's chest and she pulled the trigger. He hurt a deafening sound, the sound he had dreaded to hear since earlier this evening. Jenna had just shot the love of his life. Val acted on instinct and jumped towards Jenna, who had started to aim at Sharna again. He tried to remove the gun from Jenna's hand, but she was stronger than he expected.

When Val closed the door in front of Peta, she knew something was wrong. The first message, about Sharna being out cold, she didn't get it. But when Val said she was sleeping on the couch and hadn't woken up, she knew something was wrong. Sharna was the lightest sleeper Peta had ever met. She would always wake up, and if she didn't wake up from the doorbell, something was wrong. So Peta left Val and walked around. She walked towards a window from which she would be able to see the couch. And Peta was shocked by what she saw. Her best friend Sharna was lying on the couch and she was clearly unconscious. Beside her head, Jenna was sitting and she was holding a gun. And that gun was lying on Sharna's visibly bruised face. Tears started to form in her eyes, but right now her best friend needed her, so she wiped them away and went back to her car to call the cops. She explained the situation and they were on their way. Peta also called Maks, letting him know what was going on. And then she heard something that would haunt her for the following nights.

The police was almost at the house when they got an alarm that a shot had rang out at the same address they were going for. So they speed up their cars and immediately went to the door. They looked through the windows and saw two people fighting and one person was lying on the couch. They went in and pointed their guns at the two people. "Let go of the gun and get on your feet, Miss Johnson."

Val had control of Jenna's hand, which she had the gun in, but she was fighting him off with every fiber of her being. She was fighting him off, when the police came in, pointing their guns at them. Val rolled off of Jenna and immediately went over to Sharna lying on the couch. Her left shoulder was red with blood and her breathing was getting shallow. Val quickly picked up one of the pillows and put it on her shoulder and pushed it down. He tried to apply as much pressure as possible to stop the bleeding. From the corner of his eye he could see the police handcuffing Jenna and taking her away. An ambulance stopped in front of the house and they ran inside.

"Sir, you have to move aside. We have been informed by the police and we need to take her to the hospital as fast as possible. And you can ride with us in the ambulance." Val moved aside and they started working on Sharna. They tried to wake her, while they attended the shot wound, trying to cover it as good as possible. They gave her an infusion for extra fluid. "We have to intubate, she has an EMV-score of three and we have to be sure." They worked very fast and before Val knew they had put her on a stretcher and rolled her outside. She had been intubated and one of them was inserting pressure on her shot wound. "Will you come with us?" Without saying anything Val followed them outside. Peta was still waiting by her car and was shocked when she saw Sharna lying on that stretcher. "I'm going to the hospital with Sharna," Val said. "Maks is coming and we will follow you afterwards. I can't believe what happened. I can't believe what Jenna did."

Val didn't hear Peta say those last words, he followed Sharna into the ambulance and sat next to her. He took hold of her hand and sat next to her, whispering in her ear. He was telling her how much he loved her and that she wasn't allowed to leave him. He had no clue how severe her injuries were, but the fact that she was still unconscious wasn't a good thing.
