Chapter 11

Nine months later he drove towards the hospital as fast as possible. Sharna’s waters had broken and the contractions were coming. When they arrived at the hospital, Val got a wheelchair and rode Sharna to the hospital. There she was taken into a room and Val sat down by her side. He was holding her hand, helping her get through the pain. His hand was already hurting, but he knew that this was nothing like the pain she was feeling right now.

Sharna had been in labor for 24 hours, but there was still no sign of the baby. The doctor wheeled in an ultrasound to check on the baby. “Everything is looking alright, I think you can go pushing any minute now.”
“Finally.”
“To get your mind of things, there are a lot of people waiting for you.”

After another 10 minutes, Sharna could finally start pushing. After 30 minutes she heard a cry and the baby was finally out. It was wrapped in blankets and Val cut the umbilical cord. After that, the baby was put on Sharna’s chest.
“Congratulations, you are the new parents of a beautiful daughter.”
The doctor left and Sharna cuddled her little daughter close. Val walked closer and kissed Sharna on her forehead. And he took a look at his daughter. She had her eyes closed and the crying had stopped, right now she was sleeping in her mother’s arms.
“This is the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen.” After a couple more minutes, Sharna asked: “You want to hold her?”
“Yes.” Val sat down next to Sharna on the bed and took his daughter into his arms. She was a precious little thing that he wanted to protect for the rest of his life.

“Shall I get the people waiting in the other room?”
“Yes.” Sharna took her daughter back and looked at her face. All the pain, all the stress, it was all worth it. Sharna was now holding the most precious thing she had ever touched on the entire earth. She never believed in love at first sight, but right now, she thought it was possible. There was nothing about this little girl she didn’t love.

The door opened and Peta and her parents entered the room.
“I thought it would be better to take it easy and not have the entire cast come by straight away. Cause literally everybody is waiting outside.”
The trio immediately walked towards Sharna and the baby. They congratulated her and they all wanted to hold the baby. First her mother and father held their granddaughter and then Peta held the child.
“She is a beautiful little girl, Sharna.”
“I say she takes after her mother,” Sharna’s dad joked.
“I sure think she does,” Val added.

In the next few months the little girl grew up beautifully and she was the light of her parents’ life. Sharna and Val didn’t sleep too much in the first few weeks, but once the little girl got more of a rhythm, the parents could catch their sleep. Sharna also started to get back into shape. They had waited with their marriage, until their babygirl was born. But that meant that Sharna had to get back into shape to fit in her dress. She had 4 months after she got the baby and after 3 months she was right on schedule, meaning she was ready to fit the dress again.

She went to the store with Peta, to try on the dress. It was an amazing dress, which fitted beautifully around her body. She loved trying it on again and seeing it still fitted. When she walked out she saw Peta holding her daughter.
“Mommy, looks beautiful, doesn’t she?” Sharna smiled at the side. The daughter had grown so much and she was so beautiful.

Her daughter was making noises, hopefully saying she loved it all well. After trying on the dress she went back home, doing all the preparations for the wedding. It was only month away and everything had to be perfect.

The days flew by and before she knew it was the night before the wedding and Peta came by to pick her up.
“Say goodbye to your husband-to-be, because right now you are coming with us. And the next time you will see each other. You’ll be walking down the aisle.” Sharna kissed Val goodbye and left with Peta.

Tonight Sharna would be sleeping at Peta’s house and Maks would join Val. The next day they would go to the venue and have the marriage. Sharna’s parents were also staying at Peta’s place. When Sharna arrived, the rest of her bridesmaids were also there.
“You want to do our bachelorette all over?” Sharna asked laughing.
“I don’t think that is a good idea if I want to get married tomorrow.”
“No, I don’t think that is a good idea.”
“But we do want to have a fun night tonight.”

They had an amazing night, but Sharna went to bed early. She was really nervous about tomorrow, about how it is going to be. After lying in bed for over an hour, the door of her room was opened and Peta entered.
“Can you sleep?”
“No.”
“Remember when I got married and you slept with me the night before?”
“Yes, I remember that.”
“Would you like….”
“Yes, please. Come join me.”

Peta jumped on Sharna’s bed and joined her best friend. Sharna and Peta got closer and this time it didn’t take long for Sharna to fall asleep. That night, as if she knew, Sharna’s daughter was quiet all night.

The next morning was very hectic. First Sharna got her bags ready and collected all her stuff. Sharna got her daughter and put her in her car seat. They drove to the venue to get ready. The little girl needed to be fed a couple of times. Sharna got her make-up and hair already done when she put on the dress. When she turned around to show the dress to the people around her, her mother started crying.
“My little baby is getting married. I’m so proud of you.” Sharna gave her mother a hug and the rest of the people in the room joined in a massive hug.

“It is time.” Sharna suddenly got really nervous, but she had no time to think about it. Sharna took her daughter from Peta one more time.

“I love you baby.” She gave her a kiss on her head, before handing her to her mother. When they would walk out, her mother would hold her.

When she left the room, her father was waiting outside, giving her his arm. The two of them walked out behind the rest. When Sharna heard the music, she walked down the aisle. Val was waiting for her at the end and he was looking beautiful. With every step she said, she got closer to the life she always wanted, with the guy she always wanted.

Val was waiting patiently for Sharna to come out. The rest had already passed, so he knew she would follow soon. Finally the music started and Sharna walked out. She was the most beautiful bride he had ever seen. The dress she was wearing hugged every part of her body perfectly and made her look more beautiful, if that was even possible. Her red hair stood out, but he was mostly captivated by her eyes. He had always been drawn towards them, he could see her entire soul in them. They seemed as those eyes were able to see through everybody. He looked from her to their daughter. She was looking more like her mother every day. Soon he would have two beautiful women in his life.

He was drawn back to Sharna, in her beautiful white dress. She was now only a few steps away and all he wanted was to touch her right now. And when he finally was able to, he took her by her hand and helped her up the stage. After they said their vows and exchanged the rings he could finally kiss her as Mrs. Chmerkovsky and it was the most amazing feeling in the world.

Later that night, after the party, they lay in bed together. For this night Peta would take care of their little girl, so they would have a proper wedding night. Afterwards Sharna was cuddled up in Val’s arms and they enjoyed each other company.
“It is amazing we found each other.”
“It is, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
