calum started to fix his quiff the moment he glanced at the mirror. it was hard to keep his quiff standing, so he ended up leaving it as what it was. not putting much effort.

he went over his look again: a plain white tee with a rolled up red flannel layering over it, a skinny black pair of jeans, and a pair of bleached converse.

he was convinced that he looked pretty descent for a newbie in summer school. this was the chance for him to expand his social status, so he tried his best to be perfect and on point.

before he left his room, he pulled out his jet black iphone from one of his pockets and arranged his spotify playlist. when he was done, he grabbed his jansport backpack with his hush puppies luggage and left the room to have a light breakfast.

when he walked down the stairs, he saw his mother, by the kitchen, placing a portion of sunny side up with two strands of crispy bacon on a clean white plate, which he assumed was for him.

he threw his backpack and luggage on the floor and went to the kitchen. he said cheerfully, "thank you mom. couldn't ask for more than my mother's delicious breakfast extravaganza!". his statement sparked his mother's face into a smile.

his mother said, "everything for my baby boy. especially for the one who is off to europe for an oxford summer school program.". calum grinned at her statement. what a bright morning to start the day, he thought.

after calum filled his stomach with his mother's meal, he gave his mother a kiss on the cheek as a symbol of goodbye and hugged her. after a short hug, he took his backpack with his luggage, kissed his mother on the cheek once more as a goodbye, and left the house.

and that is where his never-ending journey began.
