I just want to say I do not mean any offence to anyone, now or at any point in this book. It is completely fictional and any views that Tracy or anyone else has are theirs and not necessarily my own. Thanks :)
After wandering around an open field for twenty minutes I finally locate the lunch hall, but by now I'm too annoyed to go inside and eat like a normal human being, so I just sit on an empty bench by the wall and pull out my lunch. Here in England there are no bells to tell you when lunch break is over, so I have to keep checking my watch. I gulp down my peanut butter and jam sandwich, my apple and then my snickers bar (I have a strange addiction to peanuts) and then quickly rush inside and to my form room, which according to my timetable is room 37.
I walk in and the teacher isn't there yet, thank goodness, so I sit at a desk at the back and get out my book. I'm reading A Nerd Girl's Life, it is really really good.
The teacher comes in bang on 2 o'clock and says
"Hello 9M, I'm your form teacher for this year and for year ten too. I apologise for not being in this morning, there was terrible traffic. My name is Miss Murray, and I am delighted to meet you all. We are all now going to stand up as I call your name in the register, say your age and if you have any pets. Let's go.
Miranda Abra"
"Yes miss, I'm thirteen and I have three dogs."
"Layla Bans"
"Yes miss, I'm fourteen and I have a cat named Molly."
"Brin Bonsington"
"Yes miss, I'm fourteen and I have a bearded dragon called Larry and a cat called Herbie."
Of course Brin is in my form room. Of course.
"Sophie Browning"
"Yes miss, I'm thirteen and have a goldfish called Bob."And so it goes on until Miss Murray gets to the bottom of the register and calls my name -
"Tracy Whal"
I stand and say "yes miss, I'm thirteen and I don't have any pets."
Miss Murray nods, and then gets on with form - she gives us all a piece of paper and tells us to write a mini fact file about ourselves, including our name, age, pets, family members' names and hair and eye colour. Anything else is optional.
I get my piece of blue paper and complete it as asked -After Miss Murray has collected all the finished sheets from everyone, it is time to go to lessons, but she tells us that tomorrow we will be pairing up and taking photos of each other to add to the fact files, and then we will be making a 9M board inside this room.
There had better not be any hand painting involved!
I grab my bag from under my desk and walk out to my next lesson, French with Mrs Patterson. To my great joy, Ali is in my French set too, but to ruin the mood so is Brin.
Five minutes late, of course.
I don't know how he has any time for anything, with the number of detentions he gets.
As he walks to his seat, he gives me a lazy smile which makes my stomach flip and my heart miss a beat, but I give him a death glare, letting him know that I'm still angry from earlier.I'm sitting next to the worlds grumpiest seat partner in the world. His name is Mitch, and all he does is growl if I try to ask him a question. And then he does no work and just copies all of mine.
