(Picture to the right is Alec)
She woke up, with the sun shining brightly onto her face. She was more confused than scared. But then again, her brain didn't seem to be functioning properly at the time. She sat up and looked around the room. It was well put together. Modest, but one could still tell that these people were rich.
Wait, "these people"? Who were these people? Melody wondered, and then her heart started to pound. She immediately glanced down at her clothes, and although she should've been relieved that she still had all her clothes on, she wasn't. Because she was wearing someone’s sweatshirt. She pulled it off, and gasped when she saw it drenched with blood. The sweatshirt was a dark blue though, and it was hard to notice, but her pale yellow shirt, well that was a different matter. She felt like throwing up. Blood had always been one of her weaknesses. She got off the bed, grimacing as she saw the blood on the sheets. Her memory seemed fogged up. She was scared beyond belief. And then she heard footsteps.
**************
Alec sighed as he walked up the steps. His mom seemed reluctant to believe that his friend had hit her head hard enough to fall unconscious. It would've sounded believable if he hadn't said she'd tripped over a stick. Yes, it was a stupid lie, but Alec failed miserably when it came to lying to his mom. Second time I lied today, Alec though, and he felt bad about it. But, he didn't think he had any authority to go around telling everyone that he'd pick up some abused girl off the street, and was 'kidnapping' her to his house so he could at least provide some place of security. No, that would put him the mental ward of the hospital.
He reached the top of the stairs, and headed towards his room, wanting to avoid his sister. He loved the little nine year old girl, but sometimes she was just a little too annoying. He reached outside his door, and heard noises come from inside. He smiled to himself. Looked like Sleepy Beauty finally woke up. He opened the door, his smile stretching to meet both ends of his face.
Suddenly, he stopped.
The girl’s eyes were wide open, growing darker as fear crept into them. His bed was drenched in blood, her yellow shirt not so yellow anymore. His sweatshirt in her hand, the blood all over the top half of her body. Even her hair had blood on it. If it wasn't for the innocence she radiated off her body, he'd have though she was a serial killer. He took one step back, not knowing what he was supposed to do. Then he heard thumping footsteps on the hard wooden floor, and he groaned, knowing his sister tease him till no end.
"Yay, Alec's girlfriend woke up! She's got to be something, considering that she's dating my loser brothe-" He quickly clamped a hand over her mouth, a blood rushing to his face. Just one time. Just one time could she cut me some slack? Leave me alone, he thought bitterly. He loved his sister to death, but she knew where the line was, and she always chose to cross it.
"First of all, she's not my girlfriend. Secondly, I'm not a looser." He said, his voice low, and threatening, yet light, showing that he would never actually hurt the younger girl. After all, he literally saved a fly in second grade.
