Chapter Sixteen

I sat straight up, my heart beating rapidly.

I realized I was on a couch. The couch in The Secret Dark Tunnel.

"Are you okay?" I hear a voice ask. I turn and see Harry. I fell asleep on him.

"Yeah, just a bad dream," I say laying back into Harry.

The others are looking at me strangely, but I close my eyes to avoid answering any of their questions.

I wasn't asleep, but just thinking. I was hoping that wasn't one of the dreams that would come true.

Shoot. What if it was? Should I tell the others? Or at least Harry?

My phone rings. I look at the caller ID and see that it's Dylan calling me. Uh-oh.

I answered, and he said the same things that were in my dream. I responded differently, though, hoping to change things.

"I have to leave," I say out loud after I hang up.

"I'll drive you," Harry said reaching out his hand for me to pull him up.

Once we're alone in the car, I tell him about my dream. We get to the house, and we're both prepared.

"Is it possible to change what happens in a dream like that if you do things differently?" I asked Harry as we pull into the driveway.

My parents weren't home, just like the dream. No cars, except for Dylan's, which we just pulled into the garage.

"I've always thought about that," Harry said. "But I've never known quite how to do that. You said the last thing that happened before someone started pounding on your door was your phone ringing, right?" I nod my head. "Okay, so put your phone on silent. Or turn it off, even."

I decide to turn it off.

Things were happening too quickly, and the next thing I knew was Harry telling me to lock my door until he comes back for me.

I wait a few minutes, and hear people, other than Harry, walking around in the house.

Harry wouldn't make his presence noticeable, would he?

I hear people muttering quietly to themselves. If I can hear that, then-

The door handle moves.

Someone's definitely trying to get in.

"Bella," I heard a voice say. It was masked, just like my dream, so I couldn't tell who it is. "Bella, open up right now! I know you're in there!"

I hope I didn't black out like last time. I want to know what happens.

The pounding on my door got harder and harder until I heart someone cry in pain.

"Get out of here," I here another voice say. I immediately recognized it as Harry. "You don't belong here."

The masked voice chuckles and said, "It's my home."

Is that? It couldn't be. Is that... Dylan?

"Maybe," Harry told the stranger, "but I'm not going to let you take her life."

"Oh, Harry. You don't have any control over what I do," the voice said.

Why is he trying to kill me?

"Then why have you been hiding? Why not tell Bella who you really are? Why make her think you're someone normal, like her friend Emma?"

"Harry, do you have any idea how hard it is to try and be normal, without anyone finding out who I really am? No, you wouldn't because-"

"Yes, Dylan, I do." Harry interrupted him. Oh my god. It is Dylan. But why would he want me dead? Harry continues talking. "A lot of my fans think they know everything about me. But guess what? They don't. They don't know I live a second life as someone with magical powers who doesn't even have a name. They don't know what it's like for someone like me, and the rest of One Direction, to hide the fact that there is something dangerous going on in our world. They don't know, because they're not like me and you."

I started to tune out of their conversation, and thought of a way to escape. My window was the only thing I had. I tried moving quietly, and tried not to bump into anything.

I unlatched the lock on my window and slid it open.

I heard someone talking, and knew they didn't have a clue to what I was doing.

I put one leg out, and tried to find something I could step on. The roof was a few feet below me.

I was hanging outside, holding onto the window with only my hands to support me. I'm dangling, with no one to catch me if I fall.

The roof is farther down than I thought it would be.

I can't close my eyes this time.

I'm risking my life with a single jump, but I do it anyways.

I barely touched the roof when I felt someone's arms around my waist, and then I started rising into the air.

I think I'm flying.

I tried to turn around, but my body was in a lock from my waist up, so I couldn't move anything except my flailing legs.

I stayed silent, knowing it was for the better.

It felt like a half hour passed when the ground was getting closer.

I saw some grocery store, but I couldn't make out the name of which one it was. I was just above the trees in the forest behind the store when I reached the ground. Someone was still holding on to me. I felt like they were standing because the person was absolutely still in one place of the ground where there was a dirt patch, and my feet still weren't touching the floor; but I also felt arms around my waist.

It didn't feel like anyone was holding me up from the ground. It felt as if someone were hugging me.

We started sinking into the mud patch.

My heart started pounding faster. I'm in the middle of sinking dirt with some stranger, where no one can find me.

The next thing I do, I was laying on the ground.

I was thrown out of whatever lock I was in, and thrown to the ground.

My voice was caught in my throat, otherwise I would've screamed.

I looked at who was holding onto me, and all I saw was Dylan.

He was wrestling someone I couldn't see. Whoever that person is doesn't seem to be harmed by the punches Dylan was throwing at him. He wasn't even moving.

The next thing I saw was the person grab Dylan's arms, and they started flying in the sky.

It looked like Dylan ended up in the same body lock I was in not too long ago. His eyes caught mine before he got too high in the sky, and he looked paralyzed.

My words were still caught in my throat.

A few minutes went by and I was still laying on the ground in the forest.

I was hoping this was a dream, but eventually I realized I wasn't waking up.

I started to get up, only to stumble back down to the ground.

I looked at my arm because I felt something attached to it.

Sure enough, there was a chain connecting to the tree right behind me. I'm locked to it.

I'm stranded here, all alone. With no one in sight. No one in a close enough distance to hear my scream if I was even able to get my voice back.

After what felt like forever, the sky turned to night. My eyes wouldn't stay awake any longer.

Just when I was about to drift off to sleep, I saw a beam of light flash.

A/N:

Sorry I haven't updated in forever! I've been busy with school. Literally, I've been doing my homework until at least ten every night. Anyways, I hope you liked my update for you, and I'll hopefully try to get another chapter up this weekend! :)
