When my eyes adjust enough to be aware of my surroundings, I realize someone is carrying me.

I drifted off into a deep sleep and when I awoke I found myself laying in a bed that happened to be mine. Reaching over to my nightstand to grab my phone, someone pushed me gently back into my bed.

"Who's there?" I asked weakly.

No one answered but I saw the shadow of someone's body.

"I can see you," I said to the shadow.

"Oh yeah?" a man's voice responded, "then how don't you know who I am?"

I recognized that voice from anywhere. "Simon. What are you doing here?"

"The question is, why were you trying to kill yourself?"

"I was just trying to find a way to escape, and-"

"Bella, let's just forget this ever happened. What's in the past, stays in the past. Sound like a good plan?"

"Sure," I said. "But who was it that-"

"What's in the past stays in the past. Let's focus on the present."

"Yes, and this is the present, and I want to know who that was, and how they flew and why they want me," I told Simon, with my voice raising.

There was a knock on my door and I turn to see my father standing in the doorway. He turned on the light, and I squinted my eyes from the brightness.

"Come on Simon," he said, "I think she deserves to know the truth."

"And what would that be?" I ask eyeing both of them.

They look at each other, then at me. Simon sighs and says, "remember that photograph Harold showed you before you blacked out the first time you exited the Secret Dark Tunnel?"

He paused, I guess waiting for me to answer. "Yeah," I lied. I don't have one clue to what he is talking about.

"That man happened to be your mother's ex-husband and he was on the dark side. He killed your mother-"

"No," I interrupted him, "she was killed in a car accident."

"No, sweetie," my dad said.

"He found out what she was, and he knew that if he killed your mother, he would get all of her powers. Your mother was the most powerful person in the world. What he didn't know was that she had a daughter."

"And her daughter is me..." I said finishing Simon's sentence.

"Correct," he answered. "Once he found out, his goal is to kill you so he can inherit everything."

"Wait, so if she was the most powerful woman ever, then does that mean...?"

"Yes," Simon answered. "You are now considered the most powerful person in the world and there are many different species that are after you to inherit your powers."

Taking a deep breath I say, "that's a lot to take in. I don't even know what I'm capable of, so how do they know it's me they want?"

It was my dad who responded. "They have some sort of device where if they search you up directly, they can find out all sorts of information about you. You're living a secret life, Bells. You can't tell anyone, not even Emma. You can't risk the fact that she might know something and turn on you in a split second."

"Dad, she wouldn't do that."

"You don't know that for a fact," Simon chimed in. "The enemy will do whatever it takes to get to you."

"And you're calling Emma my enemy? How could you?" I get up and go to my bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

Emma would never do that. I know her too well. She's not the type of person to betray someone just like that. No matter who they are.

I look in the mirror to find my hair a frizzy, tangled mess. How long was I out for?

After I got ready for the day, I went to get my phone off my nightstand.

"What are you still doing here?" I ask Simon and my father. They're sitting on my bed, waiting for me.

"Bella, we need to talk to you."

"Can't it wait? You two have had enough time to talk to me and tell me this. You've had how many years to inform me? And you're just now telling me? I appreciate your trust,' I say sarcastically.

I snatch my phone and head downstairs without turning back.

I dial Emma's number, but it goes to voicemail.

Hanging up, I sit on the couch.

Taking a deep breath in and a deep breath out, I stand up and call Emma again. This time when it went to voicemail I said, "Hey Em, it's me. I don't know how long it's been since we last hung out, but I need some getaway time. I'm heading over to your place. See you in a few, bye."

I grabbed Dylan's keys off the counter and left.

I rang the bell at Emma's house. She didn't answer.

I went to the garage, typed in the code, and let myself in.

"Hello? Anybody home?"

No answer.

I walk around the house and check her room, but she's not there.

I call her phone again to see if she's here.

The next thing I new, I heard her phone ring, and then it stopped, and on my end it went to voicemail.

She's ignoring me. Great.

"Emma, I know you're here somewhere," I hollered throughout the house.

There was one place left to check, and if she's not there, then I would leave.

I slowly walked towards her parents bedroom. I turned the handle slowly, just incase.

Opening the door, to my surprise, was Emma.

"Oh my god!" Shielding my eyes, I step away from the door.
