Chapter Ten

Flashback

Oliver: Kate, I don't know what to do, I have to save them but I don't think I'll be able too. It's really hard.

Kate: Oliver don't beat yourself up, you are a hero. You don't realize it yet but you are, one day I'll be gone and it will be you and some others. I won't be here.

Oliver: That shows I can't save you, I can't save my best friend.

Kate: Not the point, you're a hero because you'll save them. My life isn't worth a bunch more.

Oliver: You'd be dead, what about George? Your family?

Kate: I won't stay dead, I'll be in your memories forever. I'll probably end up coming back and being a badass who can't die.

Oliver: This isn't a joke anymore, it's life or death.

Kate: Why do you do this? Carry the world on your tiny shoulders?

Oliver: They're not tiny.

Kate: Seriously, you don't need too. In the end, you would have saved many people.

Oliver: What makes you believe that?

Kate: I have hope in you, I always have and I always will.

Oliver: What about when you're dead?

Kate: The hope will live on, as will my memories.

Flashback

Kara: Oliver? you still with us?

Oliver: Yeah, sorry I was just thinking.

Esme: I can't believe we made it, we will have other people to talk too!

Math: Fresh beds, that would be amazing, I need to rest. My legs are killing me.

Warren: Dean said this was the gate.

Oliver: Why's nobody here then?

The gate makes a loud and irritating noise, a man appears. He's smiling, the nice kind of smile. He walks over to the group

Dean: Hey there, I believe we spoke, I'm Dean, nice to finally meet you guys.

Oliver: Hi, I'm Oliver and this is Esme, that's Math, he's Warren and this is Kara.

Dean: Kara, you look familiar. Do you have any living relatives?

Kara: Not that I know of.

Dean: Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it.

Oliver: So what are the questions you have to ask us? We're ready for anything.

Dean: Number 1. How many walkers have you killed?

Oliver: Too many, I don't know the exact number but I'm sure it's over hundreds.

Dean: Number 2. How many people have you killed?

Oliver: 8.

Dean: Why?

Oliver: They had been bitten, others were part of a very bad organization.

Dean: I think that's all we really need, just to speed it along I won't ask the rest of you because I'm sure it's similar to him.

Kara looks away.

Dean: It checks up, you guys can come in. Get settled. Welcome to your new home.

The group walks into the gate and is astounded by what they see. There's buildings, shops, homes, dogs, cats. It's perfect. They all take a seat on a round park table in one of the gardens.
