I'M SO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN ALMOST A MONTH. It's actually because I have too many ideas this time. I needed to organize this shit. The next chapter WILL be posted this month. Even if my fingers fall off.
__________- Karma's POV -
His aquatic blue hair and his matching eyes to accompany him made him look mesmerizing in anyone's eyes. Boy or girl. Straight or gay.
No way could he just pass by without getting a few stares.
Yet, I never noticed him at school. Why the hell didn't I?
Last time I checked, it wasn't the norm to look like that, let alone act so serious twenty-four hours a day.
Thoughts of him roamed free in my head as I sat at the breakfast table, my hand tapping on the top of it since he's using his own hands to feed himself now.
I must've looked a little intimidating if Nagisa had to point it out. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" I patted his head, the expression on his face only displaying more signs of worry.
"Don't just brush it off. You look kinda distressed. Is something the matter?" He dropped his fork onto the platter, his blue eyes piercing into my own when I didn't respond. "I-I know I said I didn't trust you, and to be honest, I'm not sure if I totally do yet, but I really hope you trust me."
A chuckle escaped my lips. "So I tell you everything and you don't have to? A little one-sided, don't you think?"
He brushed his knuckles against one another, a sign of hesitation. "True, sorry."
"But yeah," I sighed, propping my head on my elbow, "I do trust you. A lot of trust that should be reciprocated."
"If you trust me like you said, can you tell me why you look like you might throttle a stray dog?" The bluenette phrased in a very disturbing manner. He brushed away the hand I had on his head.
"I'm fine, really I am. And I'm nowhere near being so distressed I'd do that."
"Are you sure?"
"Do you trust me?"
Nagisa put a thumb to his mouth, his eyes changing its focus to my shoulder again. "No comment on that... but I'll believe you."
"At least you're slowly opening up to me." I took the empty platter away to the sink, turning on the faucet in the process. "That's almost comforting."
He squirmed in his seat, rubbing his arm as a look of guilt read all over his face. "Alright."
I scrubbed the stream of syrup off the plate, the sound of the running water changing as I turned the platter side to side. It resonated around the room when our good old friend awkward silence decided to give us a longer visit than usual.
"So, uh, how's your injuries?" I scratched my cheek at how I thought that'd be a good icebreaker.
"Huh? Which ones?"
"How many do you have?" I turned around to face the shortie, my hands propping me against the counter so I wouldn't bang my head on the sink. "I know your knees are one, your eye, and your fingers. Is there any more?"
His eyes shifted left and right as he shrugged, almost like he thought it wasn't a big deal. "Well, they're not something to stress over. And certainly not something to talk about, Karma," he responded, that last sentence hinting that he really didn't want to converse with that topic.
"Are you sure?" I wanted his confirmation.
"Do you trust me?" And he wanted mine.
I gave up on trying to start a normal conversation with this guy. To be truthful, I'm surprised I didn't a long time ago.
