Chapter 7 (John)

NET THAT I JUST NET My new alarm startles me awake as I mash the buttons on my phone to turn it off. I sigh exhaustedly and slowly drag myself out of bed, stumbling on the way to the bathroom to freshen up. I get clean, put on clothes for the day and make myself some breakfast. I let Yoshi out and feed my turtles and say goodbye to my parents before heading out to school.

I arrive at the same time Laf and Hurc do, how cool. We chat as we walk to the usual spot.

"So did you find out if he's single yet?" Lafayette asks.

"No, and why'd you do that yesterday?"

"Do what?" he chuckles

"You know what you did!" I begin to laugh too, "You suddenly asked him if he was gay at lunch, what if he's uncomfortable with those questions?"

"Because he asked me if you were gay when you went to order."

"Ohh"

"He's trying to make a move on you" Hercules says, "didn't you notice he was flirting?"

"What? I thought he was just being silly.."

Just then Alex arrives.

"Good morning" He says.

"Morning" we reply

"So Alex are you single?" Laf suddenly asks.

I shoot him a warning glance.

"Yeah?" Alex replies. He's confused.

"That's cool, so is John." Laf says nonchalantly.

"Cool" he smiles.

"Yep, last time he's been in a relationship was in eighth grade,"

"Who were you with John?" Alex asks looking up at me

"Ugh, don't even start with Samuel Seabury Laf. I don't even know what I saw in that guy" I say. Why do you have to bring him up.

"I heard he's with Charles Lee now" Hercules says.

"Cool" Laf says.

"So have you been with anyone Alex?" Hercules asks.

"Yeah" Alex replies

I don't know why, but I tense up at his answer. "His name is Thomas."

"Whaat? He's an asshole!" Laf exclaims, "How?" Well I never heard of him.

"Well I was lonely as heck and he was there and we like hit it off for a while then he cheated on me so I broke his nose." Alex says.

"Good." I say, feeling a bit angry, how could someone be so cruel. "I would never do that to you."

"I'm sure you wouldn't" Alex giggles and I'm caught by surprise as he suddenly grabs my hand. I just relax and let it happen. Just then the bell rings.

"See you lovebirds!" Laf call out as he walks to class with Hercules. We walk together to the turtle pond.

"So," Alex says

I remember our conversation last night. "So... did you eat yet?"

"No, not hungry"

"Eat ten fries this lunch"

"Too much work" Alex confesses.

"Alex, if you keep this up you'll faint." I turn to look at him, "when was the last time you had a full meal?"

"A few days ago I think" He answered

"Alex..." Why must you starve?

"Yes?"
