Chapter 15 (Alex)

I wake up early and get out of bed. I dress in a white shirt and black jeans. I brush my hair and decide to leave it down for once keeping a liga around my wrist just in case I want to put it up anytime today. I grab my bag and walk out the door locking it behind me. I walk to the café and text John when I get there.

A-hey I'm at the café

J- Okay I'll be there soon

I smile and put my phone away. I walk up to the counter and order two caramel macchiatos and a blueberry muffin for John. I sit at the table and wait for John. He arrives after a few minutes and sits down.

"Hey," I smile.

"Hey," he repeats.

"I already ordered. Do you like caramel?"

"Yeah." He takes a sip of the coffee, looks up at me and smiles. "It's good!"

"I'm glad you like it." I take a sip of mine and smile.

"So is this your first date?" John asks.

"Nah nah Thomas used to take me on cute little dates all the time when we were together."

"Pshh not as cute as this one" John scoffs.

"Yeah you're right."

We sit there in slightly awkward silence because we don't know what to say.

"So... what is your opinion of pineapple on pizza?" I ask to break the silence

"I think it's a good, brings out a the flavour."

"Cool, I like it too. So... what's your favorite holiday?"

"Halloween because I like a the spooks and the candies."

"Oooh I like Christmas because of the aesthetic. It's cute."

"Aw Christmas is such a happy time" John gushes.

"It really is. That's why I like it so much. It makes me feel all warm and happy inside"

"When I'm with you, everyday is Christmas"

I blush and look down. "Haha you too..."

John grins and blushes too.

"This muffin sure is great"

"Haha so is this coffee." I look back up and smile.

Just then Lafayette and Hercules walk in and find us,"Oh there you are! We've been looking for you all morning! Were you two here yesterday too?"

"Yeah," I said.

"Oh," Laf looks at the food, then the seating arrangement.

"Were we interrupting something here..."

"Yeah. Kinda... haha" I say awkwardly.

"Aww you two are so cute! We'll leave you alone then, see you at lunch!" they walk out smiling and wiggling their eyebrows.

"Yeah, sorry for disappearing on you like that. See ya!" John calls out and wiggles his eyebrows back. I roll my eyes and smile.

"Why do I hang out with you guys?"

"Haha honestly I don't even know" he chuckles

"To be honest it's because you're cute."

John blushes, "haha thanks"

"You're welcome."

"So what do you think of Angelica?" John asks

"She's really strong." I laugh

"Yeah, so are you! I tried to break you guys up but it was like I wasn't there so I called her over haha"

"Really? I didn't even feel you"

"Yup!"

"Hah, sorry. Did I hurt you?" I ask feeling a little guilty.

"Nah. gave me a little fright though."

"Sorry" I feel horrible for scaring him.

"It's alright. Don't feel bad. Feels good knowing you'd fight for me"

"I'd always fight for you. I mean I kinda gotta protect you, that's my job as a boyfriend"

"I'd do the same"

"No, I'm not gonna let that happen. If anyone ever hurts you I'll beat the shit out of them."

"Aww"

"What?"

"You're like a little terrier, so tiny yet so defensive and strong."

"I'm not tiny" I protest.

John pats my head, "yup."

"Fine, I may be a little shorter than some people. That doesn't mean I'm tiny."

"Sure Alex." I roll my eyes then notice we are both done "Wanna walk around?"

"Sure."

We get up and leave the cafe then start walking around the school chatting about different things until our class starts. I walk to Spanish and sit. I take out my phone and scroll through instagram not really wanting to do any work. I post a few photos on my fan account and close it. I take notes until the class is over.

I walk to History to see John waiting for me. We walk inside and take our seats. The teacher tells us we are just going to be reading textbooks and doing bookwork for the entire class period which I am okay with because taking notes is easy. I get up and grab two textbooks and sit down. John and I sit in comfortable silence taking notes. After writing a few pages of notes we are done. We put our supplies away and chit chat for the rest of the period. After the bell rings. We get up and walk to spacebar as usual. We sit down and wait for Lafayette and Hercules.

"Hey guys" Herc says walking in and sitting down.

"Hey," we reply at the same time.

"Who's ordering?" Laf asks

"I will" I say standing up and pulling out my wallet. I walk up to the counter and order us two sandwiches to split and some fries. I wait for our food then take it back. I sit by John and take a small bite from mine but leave the rest because I'm not feeling hungry. I scroll through instagram posting every now and then until John tells me it's time to go back to school. I groan at the thought of being around Thomas, I'm still really salty, but nod my head anyway and stand up stretching. We leave and head back to the school. The walk to school is very short and soon enough I'm nearing my class. I give John a quick peck and hurry to class to make sure I'm not late.

I grab a copy of The Tempest and sit in my seat next to Thomas. He winks as I sit down and I just roll my eyes and sit in silence. After the bell rings the teacher silences the class and tells us to read act two and scene one of act three and take notes. They also tell us to make sure we completely understand act one and two because there will be a quiz tomorrow and if we have any questions to ask them. I take out a notebook and a pencil and begin reading and annotation. After I'm done there is still forty minutes left in the period so I re-read and annotate chapter one. By the time I'm done there is eight minutes left so I put my book and notes away and wait for the bell to ring. Once it finally does I bolt out of the class and head home so I don't have to deal with Thomas and his bullshit. It's still fairly hot so I can tell the walk home will not be fun. Ugh.
