Weeks had gone by and each day Larissa and Cassian became closer friends. They knew almost everything about each other. Cassian lived with his mother and father and had no siblings. Each day Cassian was told to go out and get food for his parents. His mother couldn't do so as she was sick and slowly dying with no known cause.
"How's your mother doing?" Larissa asked Cassian as we walked through the forest. They were looking for sticks and other wood for a fire. They knew it was against the law but it was coming into winter and fire wood was getting very expensive
"She's getting worse. As always." Cassian mumbled kicking a rock. Larissa watched as it bounced down the path
"Do you believe in the Force?" Larissa asked suddenly
"The what?"
"The Force. An energy field created by all living things, according to my father. He said it keeps the galaxy together. He used to say that if you believe in the force and trust it with your life, no harm will calm to you." Larissa explained, smiling at the thought of her father
"What are you getting at?" Cassian asked, not convinced
"Well, maybe if you trusted in the Force, your mother might not die as soon as you think. Maybe she'll- "
"It's too late, Issa. It's only a matter of time now." Cassian sighed kicking another rock down the path
Larissa was about to reply when a whining noise could be heard in the sky. In a matter of seconds, a strange looking ship flew over the forest. The noise doubled and more came over the forest trees.
"Get down!" Cassian yelled pushing over Larissa into the shrubs
"What's happening, Cass?" Larissa whisper-shouted as more whining ships flew overhead
"It's the Imperials. They're here." Cassian whispered back, his focus kept on the sky
The two were huddled into a little ball underneath a shrub. After a few minutes, the loud noises stopped and Cassian was the first to move. He wriggled out from underneath the bush and helped Larissa up.
"What are they doing here?" Larissa asked quietly, staying close to Cassian
"They're invading. My father warned me about this. We have to go." Cassian mumbled grabbing Larissa by the hand
Larissa and Cassian ran back through the forest and into the main town. Men in white armour were everywhere with blasters and other weapons. They were raiding huts and stalls. People were screaming and children were crying on the streets. Larissa felt panic and worry for her cousins.
"I have to get back to my family!" Larissa shouted, trying to pull away from Cassian's grip
"Come with me, Issa! You'll be captured if you don't!" Cassian yelled back
"Cass!" Larissa yelled back, letting go of his grip. Larissa looked into Cassian's eyes for what she assumed would be the last time. If Cassian was right, she would be captured and most likely killed. She wasn't exactly sure what was happening, but it defiantly wasn't good. Her father used to talk about the Imperials and the Rebels... An ongoing feud. The Imperials were the bad guys, hell bent on wiping out the Rebel Alliance and any who affiliated with them. Cassian gave her a sad smile before turning and running into the swarm of villagers.
Larissa turned to, heading back to her hut. It wasn't much but it was all she had and wasn't keen on losing it. Dodging many people and white armored men, she finally got back to her hut. She opened the door to find both Ariel and Lester on the ground, blood pouring out of their stomachs. They were still alive, only just holding on.
"Ariel," Larissa whispered in horror, kneeling beside her cousin. Larissa cupped her faced with both hands and wiped the tears that glistened on her pale face "Everything is going to be okay." Larissa wiped a few stray strands of hair that fell on her cousin's face before going over to Lester.
Lester was in a worse condition, suffering wounds from the stomach and shoulder. He was shaking and whispering things to himself that were only just loud enough for Larissa to hear "The force is with me."
There was a strong ache in Larissa's heart. It was like she had been stabbed with a million knives and thrown to the ground. As of this moment, Larissa realized she had lost everyone. Her mother, father, sister, cousins and Cassian. They were all gone. Larissa took the blankets off the beds and covered each cousin with one, tears streaming down her face. Larissa then looked around the hut, searching for anything that could suffice as a weapon. There was a blunt kitchen knife and a few shards of glass.
Larissa went over to her bed and gathered everything she had so that she could survive a few days. She had her boots, gloves, cardigan, knife and broken glass. There was no food in sight. Just as she was about to leave she remembered one last thing. Cassian's jacket. Larissa quickly went back to her bed, pulling up the mattress revealing the dark blue jacket. It was dirty and scratched but it was all she had. All she needed.
Larissa went back to the door and had one last look at her home. She took a deep breath and opened the door, making a dash for the forest. Until the Imperials leave, the forest would be the safest place for her.
Larissa ran for half an hour until she thought she was in a safe place. She found a small cave that appeared to have no life inside. It was cold and damp but she could manage. Larissa wrapped herself in Cassian's jacket trying to get comfortable because she knew it was going to be a long night.

Many years had passed and Larissa was now 16. She was still living on Fest, a now almost deserted planet, fending for herself and barley surviving. Larissa had taught herself how to fly on a TIE Fighter that she had fixed up herself quite a few years ago. There was only 20 people living in her village and they all worked together to keep each other going... To never give up hope. Larissa did have other plans, though. She wanted to fly out of Fest and find a more hospitable planet where she could live. There was no one she cared too much about on Fest anyway. She was going to get out of this hell hole one way or another. After the Imperial Stormtroopers raided the town and everyone she ever cared about was gone, there was a big hole in her heart full of pain and loneliness. It was time for a fresh start and Larissa knew the time was now.
