Tylers eyes opend wide and in an all-of-the-sudden manner, as if he'd been scared awake by some noise, but there was no noise and he knew that. It was just him- in his head again, he never left his own head, constantly thinking- over thinking. Waking himself up in the dead of night with his own thoughts. He knows there is something wrong with his mind and he need to get help, but he can't.
A hobby is what I need. He thought
What was that class I was offered? Drawing or sculpting.. some kind of art class at that studio downtown.I'm going to take that class. Tyler decided
After falling back asleep for maybe a couple hours, the daylight peeped through the bay window of Tylers New York loft appartment that was about 15 stories up. Tylers eyes opened wide of coarse, despite the tired feeling deep inside. Tyler loved the early morning and had to be up no matter what to look into the still dark but visible 7:00 a.m. sky. It wasn't just the beauty of it either, it just made him feel a certain way, an undescribable way.
So as usual he got out of bed and went to his kitchen to make his cup of coffee. He loved coffee- sweet coffee. He used quite a bit of chocolate caramel flavored liquid creamer, he is very particular about his coffee, milk and sugar still leaves a very bitter taste- it has to be the sweetened creamer.
He sipped his coffee and looked out at the beautiful sky. At the thought of the art he viewed he remembered that he decided to take the art class he was offered a while back so he needed to look for the brochure he was given for the information and entrance pass.Tyler came to the very last drawer to search in and he found it.
Acrylic Painting for beginners was what the front of the pamphlet read. Tyler opend the fold. "Join renowned artist and instructor Joshua Dun....." Tyler read aloud to himself trying to find the address and time. He got the pass from a friend he graduated film school with a few months ago, he had helped the friend write some dialogue for a script so he gave him the ticket, which Tyler knew did not come cheap, not in New York, and not with an artist like Joshua Dun.October 21 6:00 p.m.
Holly shit that's today he was suprised to discover the coincidence.Tyler had nothing else planned to do today so he went about writing a screen play for an upcoming project and relaxing until time to get ready for the class.
When it came time to get ready Tyler knew he needed to look pretty good, this was an elite class that would likely have 10 or 20 snobby rich parent having suburban teenagers who's parents were willing to play hundreds for there princes and princesses to have a couple sessions with a renowned New York artist. All the kids would probably be from upstate, like Albany, definitely not from the city. Tyler realized how much he would hate the kids, but whatever.
He wore a very soft- and expensive- black Ralph Lauren sweater, black skinny jeans, and Ralph Lauren shoes.
He took a Taxi the few blocks to the studio, when he arrived he entered the studio and handed his pass to the receptionist, who was smiling brightly at him. "Nice and early, you must not be from New York" she said laughing as she pointed him towards a room. "Go ahead and have a seat behind a canvas, the instructor will be in soon."
Tyler took a seat in the front, he was the only one in the room, the receptionists comment about not being from New York was correct, people around here were always late to everything- or at least we're NEVER early, "On New York time" is the common phrase, but Tyler is from Ohio, where people are less crazy.
"Wow you're early" Tyler looked up from his phone to see who was addressing him, it was Joshua Dun- the artist/ his instructor. "Yeah a whole five minutes" Tyler said lightly laughing. Joshua smiled at the comment, then approached Tyler and stuck his hand out to shake. "I'm the instructor, Joshua Dun, YOU can call me Josh" he said, accentuating the 'you'. Tyler smiled knowing he was giving him special treatment for being early. "I'm Tyler, YOU can call me Tyler" they both laughed and released eachothers hand. There was a flirtatious aspect in the air now, and Tyler was happy about it. Joshua Dun was art himself, that face- that smile- those perfect teeth. His electric pink hair poked out of a gray $150 Northington beanie, Tyler knew the price because he had the same rediculously priced beanie himself. Josh also sported a Kashmir sweater Tyler knew was no less than three hundred, but could easily be five.
This was an Exquisite man he was looking at
Just as the thought crossed his mind he realised how intently he was looking at Josh at his podium a few feet away at the front of the class, then he realised Josh was watching him look at him and their eyes met and Josh smiled. Tyler averted his gazes and blushed wildly- he'd just been caught checking him out.
"You're an artist, I can tell by the way you look so intently, you're a creator of some sort." Josh said
"Yeah acually, I'm a writter and film maker, I do alot of projects emphasizing on artistic creation." Tyler replied
"Brilliant" Josh said with a big smile that made Tyler Smile bigger, what a fucking cute thing to say Tyler though.
The attention shifted when someone entered the room, a teenaged girl. "Awe bairly on time." Josh said smiling, a smile that was different than the one he used with Tyler.Within the next fifteen minutes the seats where all filled and Josh began an introduction speech.
"Hello students, as you all know- because I'm famous- I'm Joshua Dun, your new Art instructor." Tyler smiled at the joke while everyone else seemed tense. "You can all refer to me as 'Sir', 'Mr. Dun', or even 'Professor' yah know, if your feeln it." He's funny Tyler thought. "All except Tyler here, my star student who gets to call me Josh, or maybe even another nickname, if we happen to come up with one in private." Josh rushed passed that last part on to another sentance about the class but Tylers mind stayed there for a second wondering if that was some kind of innuendo, no one else seemed to noticed, then again other than Josh the amount of personality in the room seemed to range somewhere between zero to one.
"Today we will be working on an abstract painting, if you don't know what that means- leave, just kidding don't leave, I'll explain"Tyler was listening closely to Josh, hanging on his every word as he explained the art in question. He was also observing Joshs body language as if his life depended on it. Tyler loved the way he talked and moved and how comfidently he taught and how passionately talked about art.
"You're going to watch as the paint consumes the blank canvas and fills it with life through your manipulation of the paint brush"
Josh said, staring into Tylers eyes specifically. What a beautiful way to put it Tyler thought, it reminded him of dialogue he would write- since he was so good at writing it.
