Giggly Drunk Patrick is a gift. i don't even know.
Post-Hiatus silliness!!
Pete and Joe had tried to keep track of how many drinks Patrick had. Note the word tried. Joe lost count after 6; Pete after 8. Regardless, they were both stunned when the singer disappeared and returned pink faced and giggly.
Patrick stumbled over, bumping in to Pete when he tried to sit down. He giggled. "Sorry Petey! Did'n see ya there." He smiled, his fruity and warm on Pete's face when he talked. Patrick turned his attention to Joe.
"There he is!! How's the birthday party so far huh? Cause, I'm havin' a great time." he said loudly, smiling at Joe. The guitarist smiled back, shaking his head. "It's been great so far man. But I think you should tame the party animal a bit," he said, watching as Patrick reached over and took a long sip from Pete's beer. Once he sat it down Patrick shook his head, face slightly more pink.
"Naaaaahhh I'm fine. Can handle my alcohol a lot better than ya think." Suddenly Patrick gasped and grinned, sitting up straighter. "Guys I LOVE this song. Pete!," he turned to the blonde, who looked at him in surprise, "Dance with me, pretty please?" he batted his eyes up at Pete, which was slightly more ridiculous than it was cute, but Pete loved it anyway. He grinned, thankful for the dim lighting so that no one could see his blush. Everyone knew that drunk Pattycakes was overly affectionate Pattycakes, and Pete adored that.
He agreed, helping Patrick walk over to a darkly lit corner. Patrick giggled and started dancing, eventually just throwing his arms around Pete's neck.
"You aren't daaanncciiinn Peter! If you don't dance you're no friend of mine," he said seriously, bursting in to giggles almost immediately after. He buried his face in Pete's chest, humming the rest of the song that he could remember.
If Pete was warm before he was on fire now. Patrick was being ridiculously cute, and feeling him this close.. Pete couldn't help his heartbeat racing. He gently pushed Patrick away so that he was looking up at him again, but still close. Patrick smiled, looking sleepily up at him.
"Pete, you have really pretty eyes," he said thoughtfully after a moment, before giggling. "You have like, girl eyes man. Like.. like not in an asshole way, cause fuck sexist people. But like. Like.. Like actress girl eyes?" he paused for a moment, his drunk mind trying to make sense of what he just said before shrugging.
"I dunno. You're jus really pretty Peter." Patrick finished sincerely, pulling Pete into a tight hug. Pete felt his blush deepen.
"Alright Trick, i think you're just a little drunk. I mean, I know I'm pretty, but I'm not that pretty," he joked. Patrick gasped, looking up at him in mock hurt. "You tryin to tell me I'm a liar! Peter Wentz I will fight you." Pete giggled, and Patrick laughed too, falling forward into Pete's arms.
"I wouldn't hit ya Pete. Not unless like. You asked me to." Patrick wiggled his eyebrows at Pete, smirking stupidly. Pete rolled his eyes, trying very hard not to think about what his best friend just said. "I think it's time for you to go back to the hotel Trick. You're gonna have one nasty ass hangover in the morning."
"Pssh," Patrick waved a hand at him," I'll be fiiinnneee. You worry t much." Pete watched him with a small smile, and eventually the singer relented. "Fine," Patrick sighed, pouting at the floor, "But you have to come with me. Don't wanna go back alone, it'd be boring. Don't wanna be bored, wanna be with Peeettteeee." he whined, giggling at the end. Pete felt his heart jump up in to his throat, but he nodded, letting Patrick lean against them as they walked to the door.
Pete called over a taxi, helping Patrick inside before giving the driver the address of the hotel. He leaned back, shifting so that he was comfortable when Patrick leaned into his side. He pulled out his phone, letting Joe know that he was taking Patrick back. Joe sent him a bunch of side eye emojis, and Pete rolled his eyes.
Patrick smiled up at him, humming. "Peeeettteerr who ya textin." Pete told him, looking down at his friend, bemused. Patrick nodded, wrapping his arms around Pete's middle. "When we get back to the hotel, can we watch a mooovviiieee? I wanna watch a movie Pete."
"We can yeah. What do you wanna watch?"
Patrick thought for a moment, chewing his lip. Suddenly he grinned. "Pete can we watch Ghostbusters!!" Pete laughed and nodded. He felt so warm, so content. Patrick really was adorable like this, even though he knew in the morning he'd be grumpy and miserable. Pete would try his best to take care of him then, if he could. For now..
Pete helped Patrick out of the cab after he paid the driver, both of them stumbling into the elevator. They got on with an older woman, whose tiny dog was peeking out of her purse. Patrick's eyes lit up, and he clapped and pointed at the puppy.
"Pete!" he whispered excitedly, pulling at the bassist's shirt. Pete nodded, smiling and shaking his head. The woman got off, huffing as she left, and Patrick waved goodbye to the dog. They rode the elevator up two more floors before Pete heard Patrick sniffle. He looked down, alarmed. Patrick smiled sadly up at him, leaning into his side.
"Th' puppy was cute Pete," he said, voice thick, "I miss my puppy..". Pete felt his heart melt. Everyone had to leave something behind when they went on tour, and it always was hard, but they tried their best to deal with it in their own ways. But when you're drunk and honest and all of your emotions are weird.. Well, Pete could understand why Patrick's eyes were wet. He wrapped his arm tightly around Patrick's shoulders, muttering comfort to him until they reached their floor. Pete kept his arm around Patrick until they got inside their room.
Patrick immediately fell face first into the closest bed, wrapping his arms around the pillow his face was buried in. He turned his head to watch as Pete locked the door and kicked off his shoes.
"Pete?" Patrick's voice was highpitched and sleepy. Pete always thought Patrick was cute, but when he was sleepy and cuddly and emotional, Pete always melted a little. Pete raised his eyebrows, sitting down beside Patrick on the bed. Patrick sat up and scooted closer, wrapping his arms around Pete.
"You're great y'know. M' best friend. Thanks for takin me home.. I know I'm a lil drunk, it was just fun..." he sighed, looking up at Pete. "Can we go to sleep? Please? We can watch Ghostbusters tomorrow.. R'now I jus wanna cuddle.. Please?" Pete's chest tightened and he nodded, smiling brightly at Patrick.
Pete stood, taking off his shirt and jacket before helping Patrick out of his as well. They both blushed whenever their skin touched, Pete biting his lip to keep himself in check. He also took off Patrick's hat, placing it carefully on the bedside table, along with his glasses. Pete managed to take off his ridiculously tight jeans in time to catch Patrick when he stumbled trying to take off his own. Patrick's skin flushed bright red, but he said nothing.
They finally crawled into bed, Patrick laying down first, Pete joining him after he turned off the light. Patrick sighed in content when Pete lay behind him, his arm around Patrick's waist. Suddenly Patrick turned, wrapping his arms tightly around Pete's middle. He pulled him closer, his face in the bassist's neck, smiling and humming.
"Pete," he breathed, squeezing him.
"Yeah?" Pete asked, incapable of saying much else. They had been in this position before, of course, but hardly ever when Pete was this sober, and Patrick so drunk. Pete's brain was threatening to explode; this was Joe's birthday sure but if this moment wasn't a gift then Pete didn't know what else it could be.
Patrick smiled, and leaned up to kiss his cheek gently. "Love you." he whispered, laying his head back down. Pete went still, shocked and on fire. He knew it was just because Patrick was drunk, he was always more lovey and handsy when he was drunk, but still.. It took Pete a moment to snap out of it. By then Patrick had already fallen asleep, his breaths coming out slower, his mouth falling open. Pete smiled down at him before carefully placing a kiss to his forehead. "Love you too Trick."
Pete fell asleep with his arms around Patrick, sleeping soundly with his best friend in his arms. In the morning Patrick would all but step on Pete as he rushed to the bathroom with one of the worst hangovers he'd had in a long time, but for the moment, it was beyond perfect to Pete.
