I lay in the cold wet snow, staring up at the gloomy sky and trees above me. I heard footsteps and the presence of another body but couldn't care who it was. Simon came into eyesight but I didn't look at him. I saw him crouch down and lie next to me. I quickly glanced to my left, he stared at the sky, completely emotionless. I returned my gaze to the sky. Watching as the bright green leaves swayed in the wind. I always found it peculiar how they stayed so vibrant in below 0 temperature. I closed my eyes as the sun shine through the clouds, taking in the warmth.
I opened my eyes and tuned my gaze to Simon, who appeared to be looking at me. I stared into his eyes for a moment before turning away. I smiled to myself and blushed as I stared at the sky once again. I began to hear talking to the right of me, I turned my attention to Tasha and Josh arguing.
"Give her a chance" Tasha said, waving Josh off.
"Why would I do that?" Josh crossed his arms over his chest in disgust.
"You gave all us a chance, why not her?" She rolled her soil brown eyes growing frustrated
"Something feels off about her" he looked in my direction, we made eye contact for a split second before Tasha started speaking again.
"Give her a chance, one week is all I ask and if she doesn't prove good to our group then she can leave" Tasha seemed to finish that argument there as she began walking off.I sighed heavily and sat up, brushing the snow off my wooly jacket. I leaned back, propping myself onto my hands. I just stared blankly at this one spot in the snow, it glistened perfectly as the sun shone in all the right places, the little crystallised pebbles sparkling as I swayed my head softly. I decided I didn't like lying in the snow, I stood, brushing the snow sticking to my clothes. I turned around to see Simon was stood as well. He looked intrigued in what went on in my mind, he really didn't want to know.
"Uh.. I'll be back in a bit" I rubbed the back of my neck looking at the snow behind him rather then him. I looked up to see him nod and begin walking towards the campfire. I walked forward towards the gate, I figured I could do some hunting or enhance some abilities, possibly even discover more magical interactions.
I went on a wild search for a stick, rock and some reeds. I made sure I didn't travel to far from the camp as I could become suspicious to the others. As I walked, letting my mind get lost in deep thinking, I found a large stack of rocks that looked decent. I picked two rocks placing them into the pockets of my jacket. I then found a pile of sticks, picking them up and carrying them as I searched for reeds or vines. I stumbled upon a few vines, literally. I crouched, placing my cold numb fingers under the vines as I applied force, they broke free as I held one long strand, the perfect amount.
I sat down on a nearby rock. Placing the objects in front of me. I took one stick and the vine, tying the vine to each side of the stick. This caused the stick to bend enough I could use it as a bow. I took the rest of the sticks, using the rocks to sharpen the edges to use as arrows.
I walked around for at least twenty minutes to finally find a target. A wild bambi drank water from the cold flowing river, the rivers also never froze over but were extremely cold. I spoke to myself quietly.
"Here we have a wild bambi, drinking water in its natural habitat, we watch here as a lonely girl with a bow slowly crouches, pulling her bow back as she aims to shoot towards its prey, the deer not noticing" I poked out my tongue slightly to the left as I took my aim. Pulling the arrow back. I released the arrow as I watched it fly towards the innocent deer. It struck the deer straight into the head, killing it instantly. I will admit I got sad when I killed but it's just the way life goes.
I stood from my position and made my way towards the dead deer. I looked down at it, feeling sad yet satisfied. I wrapped my fingers around the wooden arrow, twisting it as I ripped it gruesomely from the deers head. The eyes rolled back as it slumped into the snow, staining it with the gorgeous shade of red. I crouched down and took both ears in each hand as I began to drag the deer, finding this was useless. I sighed and heaved as I picked it up, tossing the lifeless animal over my shoulder.
I turned around to head back to camp when I saw a pair of shoes, I looked up to see Simon there with a blank expression, almost shocked or afraid. I looked away quickly and made my way towards the camp, walking past him. I heard his footsteps following behind me as he was soon walking along side me, just staring at me in disbelief. I refused too look him in the eye as I knew I would see the horror in them. We walked in silence until we reached the gates to the camp. He stopped, blocking the entrance. I gave him a confused look, he wanted to say something but was afraid to.
"What's up?" I asked softly
"How did you jus-"
"I've been doing it for years, I feel bad doing it but the feeling numbs out if you've done it over a hundred times" I shrugged and began to push past him but he continued to block my path.
"You went invisible" he said in a low whisper. My eyes went wide, not realising I had.
"I don't know what you're talking about" I tried again but he took a step forward
"Nix please"
"I'll say later ok, you can't tell anyone" I gave him a stern look, he simply nodded and let me past.-----------------------------
