When I look in the mirror

When I look in the mirror,
I see something I don't want to be.
I see something I don't want to see.
and I've seen many things -not going to write them down, preventing more trees to be killed-
Maybe I've been what I want to be,
maybe I want to be what I've been.
That's when I begin
to think about time.
We want the past to be present,
but the present is future's past.
You can't see the past in the mirror,
even if you tried
you forget the days that made what you've become,
what you see.
Because you are more
than pixels on a screen,
than a face in a crowd,
than a voice, not screaming loud
enough.
Literally, you're not more than that.
You're just two feet,
leaving a trail.
Together with everyone else.
Made the world what it has become.

When I look in the mirror,
I see what I've become,
and I'll become
much more
than that.

This is kind of like a bonus, because I wrote this for a contest I haven't participated in yet. Should I though? It's like a real life contest, I'm not sure if I'm good enough.
Why it took me so long to post something? Three things: first, I've been working hard on my new poetry book, which will come out soon, but it's a lot of work. Second, I've been writing a story, which will hopefully end up on my account as well, somehow. But you can forget that for now, it's going to take a long time before I'm done. The last reason, there's only going to be one more poem posted in this book, hopefully a special one, we'll see how that works out. Again, that poem takes a lot of time as well.
So here you have all my excuses, in a way too long author's note. I just miss talking to you guys...
