I woke to the sound of a girly screaming and instantly i was up with a knife in my hand. As soon as i moved, a sharp stinging feeling spread over my body and i almost collapsed on the ground from the pain. I saw darkness and the only thing i could hear was a huge buzz and a girl screaming. Still, almost paralysed, i kept waving with my hand in front of my face to get the stinging feeling away.
When i felt like giving up fighting against whatever this was, I felt a strong hand grab my upper arm and start dragging me away from the stinging things, though they followed. As soon as I was free from the stinging things for one second I could think clear and when I could open my eyes I saw Cato in front of me, screaming only one thing. Run.
I snapped my head back to where we came from and saw a swarm of weird looking flies. Then I realised they weren't flies. They were wasps. Trackerjackers.
Of course, they're a mutation from the Captiol.
I quickly got to my feet and pushed Cato ahead of me before we started running as best as we could with our head full of poison.
We rushed through the forest not caring which direction we went in, just wanting to get away from the trackerjackers. As far away as we got, the trackerjackers kept following us, never loosing their speed. When I was sure i couldn't run another step Cato panted a word before running off again.
Right when I heard what he said, new hopes sparked inside me and I took off after Cato in the direction of the lake.
Surprisingly, the lake was closer than I thought and when I came running forward to it I saw Cato and Marvel already swimming in it. I jumped right in and stayed under surface as long as I could but since i had been running I needed more air than normally so pretty soon i had to go up and get air.
When my face broke the surface I quickly covered my face with my arms in case if the trackerjackers were going to attack again. Luckily they didn't because they were gone. I calmed down my breathing to normal before I swam back to land and got up. When I raised to my feet almost immediately I fell down on the ground again. Just that I didn't touch the ground.
When I was inches away from the ground, strong arms wrapped them selfs around me and I lost consciousness in the arms of Cato Hadley.
-----
My eyes were heavy when I tried to open them. When they wouldn't open I waited a few minutes before I tried again. Didn't work. I decided to try some other body parts before I tried my eyes again. I slowly moved my fingers and then my arms and so on until I had my feel back in every body parts.
Then I tried my eyes again. Still didn't work.
Lazy asses.
I sighed and focused on my ears instead. They worked. Well thank you.
"What do you mean you don't know!?"
I listened carefully as I heard Cato's angry and upset voice coming to me from my right.
"I...Well, she had more stings than you...And...I don't know, it could be anything!" I heard Kevin's desperate voice coming from my right to.
"Well, she will wake up, right?" Cato's voice said.
"I said I don't know. I'm no doctor." Kevin sighed.
"Well, it's best for you that she wakes up." Cato snorted. It's funny actually, without even looking at him I knew that that tone could only mean he had a deep frown in his face.
"Come on man, he can't make her wake up." Marvel's voice suddenly spoke up.
I waited for an answer but I just heard some mumbling and then someone damp down on the ground with a big sigh. As i lay there on what I thought was some sort of bier, i wondered why Cato sounded so concerned. Then it hit me that I hadn't heard Glimmer's voice yet. Maybe she didn't make it. I prayed to god that she didn't make it, that dirty little blonde. Well Cato was blonde too but you get what I mean, blonde blonde.
I suddenly felt like someone lifted something away from my eyes because they fluttered open without any effort. As I saw that I was inside the cornucopia, and that my knives lay next to me, I immediately relaxed.
I carefully swung my legs over the edge of the bier and tested them if they were strong enough to stand on. They were. I slowly walked out from the cornucopia, - after grabbing all of my knives, of course - and when i got out i had to shield my eyes from the bright sun.
I heard a gasp and turned to see Cato, Marvel and Kevin there. I grinned at them.
"Good day." I said and flopped down next to them and grabbed an apple from Marvel's hand.
"How long was I out?" I asked and took a bite from the apple, chewing slowly.
"Uh..4 days." Kevin stammered. They were obviously all surprised I'm even alive.
Then it hit me. 4 days. Katniss made me miss 4 days of the arena because of her little trick with the trackerjackers. Oh hell, she was going to pay.
"So...Glimmer? Where's she?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Dead." Marvel said. Thank god.
I nodded and tried to look sad but I really wanted to just dance.
"I'm sorry to ask but...How are you feeling?" Kevin asked carefully. Ha, I knew they didn't believe I could just wake up and feel fine.
"Really bad, actually." I said and all of their heads snapped at me. I wanted to laugh because they all looked really funny. The caring boys never fit them, of maybe Kevin but not Marvel and definitely not Cato.
"Though I will be perfectly fine once I get to slit Katniss' throat.
