Godzilla!
Maybe there's nothing else from Japan that I love more... I am always going to be that little kid looking up from the floor at giant monsters munching on miniature cities.
This picture was taken at the Wonderfest convention in February 2016. Held several times a year, it's an opportunity for (mostly) amateur and indie hobbyist to show off their modeling skills. Not everything there is kaiju related (cosplay is another major part of the show), but it is the main highlight for me.
The modeler here has made his own miniature Godzilla puppets out of foam and rubber: two ingredients essential to actual monster suits.
Interest in Godzilla would explode later in 2016 with the release of Shin Godzilla in the late summer. The big G in that film was all CGI, but was rendered to look as rubbery as possible. You can't top perfection.
