"Blaine!" Kurt calls out running to catch the coffee shop door before it closes. "Hey," he says stepping through the door to stand with Blaine, "ready to work on our project?" They both step into the line to get their coffee's with big grins on their faces.
"Ugh, this will be the longest project of the year won't it? We've already been working on this for two weeks and we still have two more topics to cover," Kurt rolls his eyes at Blaine's complaining, "why don't you go get started, I got this," Blaine gestures to the coffee line. "There's an empty table over there. I can meet you at once the drinks come out."
"But-" Kurt protests being cut off by Blaine before he could finish.
"Don't even try, coffee is on me today, I've got it covered." Kurt gives him a look that tells he doesn't approve of Blaine spending money on him. "You got it yesterday it's my turn." Blaine reasons smiling and nodding at a lady in front of him that has become interested in the conversation.
"You don't even know my coffee order," Kurt raises his eyebrow and puts his hand on his hip thinking the conversation is over with.
"Of course I do, grande nonfat mocha, you order it every time we come here, now go sit down," Blaine smiles placing his hand on Kurt's arm knowing he won the argument and points over at the still empty table.
"Ok, fine you win," Kurt huffs and walks to the empty table placing his bag down to get started. Neither boy notices the dull glow of their chests symbolizing their soulmate marks as they go their separate ways. Though it doesn't go unnoticed by the shop's customers and workers who smile sadly at the pair when they both overlook their marks.
Blaine pays for their coffee's and brings them to the table. He rolls his eyes at the color coded spread Kurt has already laid out on the table for their project. "I don't know how you have this much organization for a project, I don't even keep my room this organized," Blaine chuckles handing Kurt his coffee and sitting down.
"I know, I've seen your room," Kurt chuckles not taking his eyes off the note cards in his hands as he accepts the coffee with a 'thank you'.
Blaine grins and reaches a hand out to grab one of the markers to get started when Kurt slaps it away. He looks up confused with his brow furrowed at Kurt.
"These are for the note cards," Kurt explained pointing at the markers Blaine was reaching for and lifting the note cards in his hands to show Blaine, "They're more expensive and easier to read in small print. Here, these are the one's for the poster," he hands the new set of markers to Blaine with a smile.
"How did you know I was going to do the poster and not the note cards?" Blaine teases.
"Because I have the note cards in my hand and you never ask to do the things you think I am working on because you don't like to disrupt the 'productive flow'." Kurt smiles up at him.
"That is crazy, but yet so adorable," Blaine stops working and gazes at Kurt fondly with his head on his hand. Kurt blushes and looks back down at his note cards. When he looks back up at Blaine, he sees him still staring at him.
"Stop looking at me like that." Kurt sighs.
"Why?" Blaine lifts his head off of his hand and tilts it sideways.
"You know why." Kurt mumbles looking down at his note cards.
"I just really like you Kurt, and I wish we were really soulmates so we could be together like I know you want." Blaine responds.
"I wish we were soulmates too, but you know I want to wait until I meet him to see if I like him before I date anyone else." Kurt smiles sadly at him and looks back down at his note cards.
"I know, and I will respect that, I just can't help it" Blaine says solemnly going back to work on the poster. They both work together seamlessly to get the project done before deciding to call it quits with only a few short paragraphs left. They both walk out to the parking lot together chatting about nonsense.
"My parents are home, but I bet we would be able to watch a movie if you want to. I have the Harry Potter movies, I just got them the other day for us to watch, I know they are your favorites." Kurt turns back looking hopefully up at Blaine, but he shook his head.
"I actually have some more homework to get started on, so I think I'm going to head home, but I'll, see you tomorrow," Blaine turns to walk back to his car when a hand reaches out and spins him back around bringing him straight into Kurts' chest in a tight hug.
"Thank you for the help Blaine,"Kurt whispers next to Blaine's ear before letting him go.
"No problem, see you later Kurt," Blaine turns around in a better mood than before both boys going their separate ways. Neither boy notices the bright glowing of their chests, too caught up in their own heads from the shared hug to notice.
