I wake up in a white room, Harry at my bedside. He’s got bandages covering his right eye and most of his upper body, but he smiles at me. I try to sit up, but pain shoots through my entire body.
“Whoa, whoa. Don’t hurt yourself.”
“Harry? Where are we?”
“We are in a hospital. In the Capitol. Well, specifically the part of the Capitol we’ve taken over.”
“Taken over?”
“Yes. It’s only a small portion of the city but we’ve got most of the Districts and a lot of man power, and we’ve had it for quite awhile.”
“Awhile? Harry what do you mean?”
Harry moves his hand to grab mine. I watch his hand move down to my arm. Most of my body is covered in bandages, but I can’t feel anything.
“You’ve been asleep for a long time. We didn’t think you would wake up. When we found you, you were completely on fire and passed out.”
“What happened?”
Harry sighs and runs his good hand through his hair.
“The technical difficulties were apart of the plan to break us out. Some of the rebels broke into the Gamemakers room using an inside source, but there were complications. Before he died the Head Gamemaker unleashed the flaming mutts, and because they had destroyed most of the tech the rebels couldn’t stop them. They took forever to open the top of the dome to extract us.”
“Are Gale and Niall?”
“They’re okay. Niall’s a tough mofo, he wasn’t going down easily. Gale is less okay than Niall, but he’s alive.”
I bite my lip, and it hurts.
“Careful tiger, you’re missing a chunk out of your lip and most of it is burned.”
I stare into Harry’s eyes and try to process everything he’s told me.
“You said we’re in the Capitol?”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t understand.”
Harry stands up and walks over to a window at the edge of my bed. He pulls away the curtain, and my heart stops.
“Welcome to the revolution Kate.”
