Chapter 5:

"I still don't understand the thing with the red dress," Don stated while working on an invention. I stood next to him working on my black suit.

"Donnie the red dress is a metaphorical thing. It relates to music and literature often times when a female is trying to lure someone into a trap she's wearing red in the form of a dress. The novel 'The Devil in the Red Dress' is one it was written by Abigail Riley. There's a song, 'Red Satin Dress' by the bluegrass band Cherryholmes. There is a Chinese myth about women who die in red dresses coming back to haunt those who wronged her. I don't actually have to wear red it just kind of means I'm leading people into a trap by tempting them. Red is also a very flattering color on a female. It's a sex symbol I guess you could say. Raphael looks good in red but he isn't a girl it also represents who he is an angry, rash, bold, and passionate turtle.  In the Bible red is associated with many things that are often looked down upon in society. Red is what I am. If society knew about what I am about the ability I have I most likely would be an outcast like if the topsiders knew of you they wouldn't accept you either. I'm actually thinking of a way to solve you guys' problem of not being able to blend in."

Donnie studied me for a minute seemingly intrigued. "Really are you working on that? I've been trying to solve the problem for years. We aren't like you El we aren't gifted with that ability. The whole red thing in intriguing you would look good in a crimson red I think. I'm not much of an artist though so for color ideas you'll have to ask him. Colors and artistic things flow more his way."

"You're artistic and creative too you know. The way you create things out of scrap is amazing. I could buy you some new materials if you want them so you wouldn't have to use scraps. I really like your design though I think your use of scrap metals and such materials makes you distinctive. Not only is it art. It moves too. I'll talk color with Mickey though. I could probably do it myself though I've studied the way fabrics work, move, and correspond with each other is quite the science." I was fiddling with a few wires trying to figure out how they managed to make such a heavy mistake as to connect the wires the way they did. I fiddled a little more. "Oh yes I think that should so it. Now I just have to create the database of clothes and such. I can take any piece of clothing in a picture on the internet and recreate its appearance with the body suit."

"Oh so you have made progress. Should I expect you to be in here all the time then?"

"Oh most likely yes until I set up my own workbench in my room, but I might have to borrow your space occasionally if I decide to work on much larger projects. Do you think I should ask your other two brothers for suggestions on color schemes?"

"I'll make sure to leave some space open for you," he kept focused on his alterations to the Shellraiser while shaking his head. "No don't ask them they are too dense to understand the question of color, cloth, and creativity."

"Oh come on I doubt it's that bad but I can see where you're coming from," I sat down with my head in my hands. I held my head upturned towards the ceiling. Donnie sat next to me his hand rested on my shoulder comforting me the best he could. I stared at him I hated feeling vulnerable but my sister's death has caused me to feel too many emotions. Emotions I've suppressed for years.

"El it's all going to be okay. You know that right? You know everything will be alright and that you aren't alone we are here for you. We'll get through all of this together."

"I know and understand that but I just realized that I forgot to take something with me when I left her to be found. She would have wanted me to have it. Two things actually now that I think about it." My hands curled into fists and an involuntary tear slipped from my eye. I stood abruptly knocking his hand from my shoulder. "How could I be so stupid? How could I forget something like that? How could I forget that," I wailed in a mixture of sadness, anger, and self disappointment.

"Should I get the others," Donnie asked his voice dripping with concern.

"Yes get your brothers. Go get them please. We have plans to discuss and I have much to create. We don't have much time the body is bound to draw someone's attention to itself within the next couple of days. They'll probably think something has died in the ventilation system first though before they go checking anything." I paced thinking plans over in my head and all the things that could go wrong with them.

Donnie returned with Mikey following him. "The other boys said they were to busy to be here at this precise moment," he said looking at me.

"No they aren't! Don't cover for them! They just don't want to deal with an emotional girl at the moment. I don't see why they always comforted April when she was around," Mikey exclaimed.

"Well then Dr. Prankenstein let's go get revenge. This is important if they are to 'busy' let's show them what happens when you deny me," I smiled evilly the tears now gone from my eyes. "You do water balloons right?"

"Yeah man I do. I mean woman."

"No man, just call me man. I don't really care. Let's intensify your water balloons by adding some flour to the mix."

"Umm...El you really shouldn't piss those two off," Don advised. "They'll get you back you know."

"That's why Mikey is the distraction and we get to throw the balloons genius."

"But I don't want to help."

"Too bad you're here so you are helping."

"Fine."

"Excuse me but what am I doing exactly," the orange masked turtle asked.

"Well Mikey, we are going to prank Raph first so distract him like you normally do. That means ask him stupid questions, make fun of him, and poke at him till he gets really annoyed. That way he'll be focused on you and not suspect anything else is going on. Donatello here will distract Leo for us and Mikey you'll get to help me prank Leo."

"Why don't you distract them?" Donnie asked smirking.

"I'm not going to distract them because it would prove to be too much for them to handle. Plus, they would think I like them in that way."

"Not if we hit them with the water balloons as you're doing it and you crack up laughing."

"Nope I'm sorry but I'm not distracting them. You're not going to get a show today sorry," I faked a smile.

"Oh but we could get one another day then?"

"No I don't think any of you will ever get a show like that."

"What are we talking about a play? Are we going to put on a play," Mikey asked innocently.

I shook my head and laughed, "No Mikey there is no play of any kind. Now let's get started on those water balloons we'll need at least four."
