There are things in this world that we cannot control. Love is a good example for that. The moment you felt it, there is no turning back. No matter how hard you resist it, it will always find a way back. Seeing my mother walking down the aisle and my father's teary eyes as he wait for her, I know its true love. They have come across many struggles just for them to be with each other. They've also spent months trying to keep me safe. Now, the most awaited event of their lives is about to come true.
"Never knew you are this emotional, dad." I teased my father.
He glared at me and compose himself quickly as mom is already in front of us holding on to uncle Nik's arm. Before my mom could let go, uncle Nik decided to threaten my dad again.
"If you ever make my sister cry..."
Dad cut him off.
"You will have my head and skin me alive. You already said that to me a dozen times already, Nik." Dad said.
Mom and I laughed at their conversation. Then finally, uncle Nik give my mom's hand to dad. My parents smiled at each other before walking towards the priest. The two of them were smiling the entire ceremony until they have to recite their vows to each others. Everyone in the room cried as my parents emotionally recite their promises to each other. In the end, the ceremony ended with the first kiss of my parents as husband and wife. Not only is the wedding glamorous but also the reception. Auntie Bex really did a good job in planning this wedding. My mom let her plan everything and let her consult my mom regarding small details such as colors of the flowers and cake.Honestly, my parents couldn't care less if they married in a barn, as long as they will officially be together for the rest of their lives. As their son, I couldn't be more happier to see them like this.
Uncle Elijah motioned me to come to them as he finished dancing with my mom. I quickly took my mother's hand and sway along to the beat of the song that surrounds us.
"Your eyes are twinkling with delight, mom." I remarked as we continue to dance.
"Honestly, I can't help but smile all throughout this day. This is the second best moment that I ever experience in my life." Mom said
"What is your first moment then?" I curiously asked her. She then placed her hand on my left cheek and caress it.
"The day you were born. I never knew that I would be able to have children of my own until you came into our lives, Lux. You are what your name means. The light to our lives. " Mom emotionally said as a single tear escaped her eyes. I quickly wipe it away and smiled at her.
"Like you said, you are all smiles today. No need for tears, mom. You have shed a lot of them for the past years. Just smile." I said as I try to cheer her up again. As I grow up, I don't want to see my mother cry. My father and I share the same thought. As much as possible, we try to make her smile despite the difficulties that we faced few years ago.
I let my father take my mother's hand once again as they interact with the guest. They are simply are inseparable right now. In my thoughts, I always ask why would my mom would fall for someone like my dad. My questions on that matter was answered by them as well. As I grow up, my mom slowly told me about dad's past and what he did before they even met. Of course, I'm not happy with what I discovered but eventually my dad cleared himself to me. He told me that my mom changed him for what he was before. In that moment, I know that my parents are truly, madly in love with one another. They describe each other with a grin on their faces.
"Finally, auntie Freya and uncle Lucien married. I thought they would never pursue with this." Hope suddenly said beside me.
"Mom is always holding back which annoys my dad. Eventually, auntie Bex and I took steps. Its their dream." I replied still looking at my parents.
"I know you worried about the future, Lux."
"I have all the right to be. Our family is still at war with various elements." I said
"Never forget that we are the Mikaelsons. We believe in family above all. No one or nothing can change that."
"To family." I said raising my glass to her. Hope smiled at me and raise her glass as well
"Always and forever."
All of this happened with an unexpected meeting that turn out to be one hell of an adventure.
