The atmosphere of the party was predictable, and Dan's expectations were confirmed as he and Piper entered the house where the party was happening. The smell of burning cigarettes mixed with weed and vomit was so strong it made Dan feel slightly nauseous. Everyone there was probably drunk or stoned doing stupid things or making out with random people. This time the party was bigger than normal though, almost massive, and Dan was already starting to get uncomfortable.

It was one of the typical parties that Piper frequented and always dragged Dan with her. Edgy, weird and hipster people everywhere and only songs no one knew about played. A part Dan kind of liked the parties, as he took advantage of the situation to take some cool photos. He thought it was interesting to just watch how weird humans are and the things we do to forget something bad that's happening or stuff like that. Unfortunately these thoughts always led him to the old existential crisis state and he rather not go down that endless void of questions about the universe and life, so, he would always ignore everything and everyone around and do his own thing, eat some snacks and drink a bit.

Piper and Dan were walking down a crowded narrow hallway, trying to pass through the people without bumping into anyone was nearly impossible. Piper had lightened up a joint already and when they got to the main lounge where most of the people were she poured some drinks for her and Dan, who politely tried to refuse but ended up giving in as always.

"It's so full of people here, I want to find a place less crowded, Piper" Dan had to almost shout so she could hear him because of the deafening music that was playing and the amount of people talking at the same time, and she nodded.

"Okay, I'll stay here with some of my friends and then I'll go with you." Piper said, taking a drag on her joint and blowing away the smoke. Dan coughed.

"Don't blow that shit on my face, for fuck's sake!" He rolled his eyes, trying to fan the smoke away from him with his hand and Piper chuckled.

"You should chill." She suggested. "Now go and I'll get to you later." And Dan turned on his heel and left, walking through the bunch of people and bumping into some. He struggled to find a place where the music wasn't too loud and there wasn't too many people in the huge house, but he finally found a little room that wasn't too crowded after almost half an hour and walking into several people having sex in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Letting out a deep sigh, Dan collapsed onto the free space on the couch, thanking god that there was a coffee table in front of it with some crisps and snacks he could eat and some bottles of vodka. He took out his phone and started browsing, taking some sips of a random drink someone handed him, which probably wasn't a good idea but he just didn't care, already feeling a little tipsy from the few drinks he had.

Across the room, a familiar figure stood with his back leaned against the wall, Phil. A bottle of some drink on his hand, and he talked to a few people in a circle, but once certain person caught his attention. It was Dan. He observed Dan, who was just sitting down sloppily on the couch, scrolling endlessly through some website on his phone. A smirk grew across Phil's face, and he couldn't help but stare at how cute Dan looked and-- no, wait.

'Stop.' He thought, shaking his head slightly and going back to chatting with the people, a guy he hooked up earlier clung onto his arm. He rolled his eyes and shook his arm so the guy would let go. The only one he wanted to talk to or stay right now with was Dan, and his mind couldn't help anymore but just wonder how amazing Dan must be in bed and--

'STOP.'  He thought again. Everything was a bit foggy in Phil's mind and he was probably just a little drunk and he couldn't think straight. He shook his head again. Yeah, that's probably what was going on.

"Hey Philly, you okay?" The guy who was clinging onto Phil asked him, his voice slurry.

"Yeah, I just need to grab something to eat. And don't call me that." He said, but before he could leave the circle of people, Phil heard the muffled sound of a familiar song on the background.

Why can't you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I stare at you
Why can't I keep you safe as my own?
One moment I have you the next you are gone

'For fuck's sake.' He thought, rolling his eyes. Of course the song's lyrics relation to his current situation was just a coincidence, but it made Phil stop walking towards Dan, who was completely clueless about what was going on. Phil stopped, and leaned his back against the wall as the song played.

The group of people left the room, the random guy kissing Phil's cheek before leaving, asking Phil to call him later, something he completely ignored. Without the loud chatting, the music was louder and could be heard more clearly.

Rehearsed steps on an empty stage
That boy's got my heart in a silver cage
Why can't you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I crave you

Phil shook his head. He just couldn't stand the possibility of having a crush on someone. And the song kept playing and he was getting angrier at himself every second that passed by. After a few moments contemplating what should he do, Phil just gave up, recomposing himself and chugging down the rest of the liquid that was left in the bottle he was holding, cleaning some of the drink that dripped down his chin on the back of his hand and walking towards Dan, who didn't realize Phil was there until the moment he broke the silence, sitting next to Dan.

"Dan!" Phil said, a grin across his lips as he tried to place his arm around Dan's shoulders.
