A Good Try

It's all about
Bass, the haze and
Purple disgrace.

The Bunker's air was shimmering. The low lighting in the club made people's movement look like in an old videogame. Or was alcohol slowly doing its job? Betty was really fast in getting Sue a new glass: "Lovely, here you are... so you found the second floor, how is it in here today?" The 26-years old graduate didn't react. "Heyho, Sue, are you still here? Do you know this guy?", Betty pointed to Jerry. "What is he doing there? Why didn't he tell me?", Sue thought. "Yeah, Beth, I know him.", she replied. "How cool is this, my friend here knows the DJ!", she yelled at someone walking by. "Ok, girl!", that one yelled back. One vinyl flew of a deck, another one landed on the other side of what they called the setup. "Pull up!", someone screamed from the back. Lighters lit above the heads and a boy in front ripped his wet shirt.

"His hands, his hands...", Sue found herself thinking dirty things. Jerry really seems to have fun, dancing to his music like his crowd, while playing music giving looks and laughters into this partying massive. But interrupted by distanted and concentrated moments to perfectionalize cuts from one tune to another. What are these knobs for? Sue could not differ them nor the tunes, an uncommon sound. It seems to be part of Jerry's concept to keep people on the run, to let them fall into a weirder and weirder becoming sound of heavyweight bassy electronica. But in real she didn't have a clue, what exactly he was doing. Flashlights and darkness alternated in red and blue ambience.

She found herself dancing two meters in front of him little time later. Someone handed her a joint, which she decided to give another unknown person after smoking three times. "Don't fuck up the rotation, my dear.", someone yelled. It was Jerry wobbling into her sight with one hand - while holding a vinyl in other - down from night's cockpit. "It's my turn, I'll give it back, Misses 'I don't know which papers'.", laughing with a big smile onto her from above. "Really! I will. Hand over.", he nipped his drink.

Sue gave him the candle. "Are you wearing a tight bra? You look kinda pushed, babe...", Jerry again laughed. Was this a joke? Wasn't this guy a cheap salesman in a lateshop? Was this a come-on? Sue really felt overrun. As a first reaction she grapped Betty dancing next to her, hugging her and giving her a kiss on her sweaty cheeks. "No, no, this is my girlfriend, see? We have been together for sooooo long now. ... I just wanted to check if you are that guy." - "Yeah, sure, lovely couple you are.", Beth looked distracted, pausing, "Seems I am that guy!", Jerry responded kinda ironically but with a bigger smile. - "Too much for me.", it flew through Sues brain. "Those lips...", were her thoughts as Betty spontaniously ran away, calling her: "Beth, wassup?", she turned away Jerry following her friend as fast as she could through the dancing crowd.

They found herselves on the real toilet, together in a safely closed cabin in a gender mixed room. Beth was kneeing, praying to big white god, repeating phrases over and over: "I'm sorry, Sue, bad vine, I'm sorry, but nice evening." She made funny noises while puking and Sue found herself smiling a little. She felt good, even if she couldn't remember how long they had danced or why this was so funny. "Was it an hour or two?", she asked into the room." - "It's nearly a half, keep on, others also want in!", an unknown voice answered from outside. Sue laughed. "Beth, we shall go then, ay? Are you cool?" - A not that confident: "Yeah, my long lost love... give it a try.", followed these words and both left toilet in eachothers arms, Betty with a slightly greenish look. This gonna be a difficult coming back home. Happily they wouldn't have a long way to Sue's tiny one-room-flat.

After they had come out the smokey Bunker air felt like a punch in face and a great downer. Sue's good mood got lost within two blocks and cause Betty was just as fast as a zombie shortly before the final end of life, it took them another half an hour to finally reach home. The drunken just felt into Sue's bed and she decided to smoke a last spliff on her ridicolous tiny balcony. "Who is this guy? What have his hands done there pon the decks? And why are his lips looking like black peep's ones?", were her last thoughts when she felt asleep on that couch auntie had donated somewhen.
