When Camila was fifteen years old she'd already had the worst year of her entire life.
__________________________________She'd come to terms, after months of debating it, that she had feelings for Lauren Jauregui.
Feelings that were far from platonic.
So far from platonic in fact, that she had to start to recognize them as "Like".
She was in "Like" with Lauren Jauregui, and she was so madly, deeply in like with Lauren, that she practically cried when Lauren started dating a boy named Brad.
Now, even though Lauren and Brad only dated officially for three days, Camila still found it upsetting, but not as upsetting as when Lauren started dating Luke.
Camila hated Luke, only because she couldn't hate him.
He was perfect. He had fluffy blonde hair, and a lip ring, and was tall.
He was so tall, that when he and Camila finally met and stood next to each other, he jokingly used her head as an armrest.Luke was also funny, and intelligent, and he could play guitar.
It was like the universe had given her a sign that not only was she in like with a girl who didn't like her back, but she was in like with a girl who liked guys like Luke, not girls like Camila.
It was around the time that Lauren's cousin Austin had asked her to homecoming that Camila decided to mention to Lauren that she might like girls.
Everyone had been drilling her to date Austin, but she knew Lauren would have her back if she knew what was going on.
She decided to do it on a Saturday, just incase it didn't go well, she could give Lauren some space.
She'd walked to Lauren's house un-announced, walking through the front gate, and around to the side.
She'd heard giggling and recognized it as Lauren's before peaking her head into the back yard.
There, on the trampoline sat Lauren wearing her long sleeved, black Nirvana shirt, that Camila had gotten for her, and kissing none other than CeCe Frey.
CeCe Frey, the girl who had brutally mocked Camila day in, day out, for the past nine years..
CeCe Frey, the spoiled brat that, at eighteen years of age, still refers to practically every existing thing on the planet as stupid..
CeCe Frey, who is not, under any circumstance, allowed to be on Lauren's trampoline, Ever.
"Camila?" A voice asked from behind her.
"Chris." She said, choking as she tried to breathe.
"Woah! Are you okay?" He asked, rather loudly.
"Chris what's-" Lauren stopped as she jogged around the corner. "Camila?"
Camila gulped.
"Camz.." Lauren shook her head. "What are you doing here?"
"How long?" Camila asked.
"What do you-"
"You know what I'm talking about." She practically whispered.
Lauren sighed.
"What about Luke?" She asked, tears threatening to fall.
"He's just a cover.." She mumbled. "I'm his too.."
"How long?" She repeated.
"Camz-"
"Lauren!" She shouted through a sob.
"Just a week.. With CeCe, just a week." She shrugged.
"And who else?" Camila asked.
"Nobody. I was just figuring some stuff out.." She explained softly.
"And what?" She scoffed. "What? CeCe is your type? Lauren, she's spent nine years making fun of me! Making fun of everyone! What does she have, huh? What could she possibly have that you'd want? What does she have that I don't-"
She stopped, realizing her words.
"That you don't what?" Lauren asked slowly.
Camila didn't respond.
"Camz.." She started. "What did you come here to tell me?"
"I came here.." She took a deep breath. "I came here to tell you that I'm going to homecoming with Austin. I wanted to ask you what color dress you thought I should get."
"Oh." She said quietly. "You, uhm.. You look good in pink."
She nodded, noticing CeCe peaking around the corner.
"Well, your girlfriend hates pink so I guess I'll pick something out myself." She said before turning and walking out of the gate.
She didn't get very far before she started to cry but oh well, she kept walking.
Homecoming weekend went over just fine.
She'd picked out a red dress, making sure Austin had a matching tie, and she barely even looked at Lauren in her navy blue strapless dress that pooled at her knees and her flawless dance moves, or Luke with his matching tie and perfect smile, or CeCe in her tight black dress with her stupid strappy heels, dancing on Lauren on night long.
Everyone loved Camila's red dress.
She had been completely thrown off at the end of the night when Austin asked her to be his girlfriend, which is possibly why she said yes, but it was more than likely due to the fact that Lauren had been in the car with them on the ride home.
She stopped talking to Lauren Jauregui.
She spent the next year and a half dating Austin and sticking around his crowd, mostly jocks.
She hardly ever talked to Ally or Normani anymore, and probably the only reason she spoke with Dinah as much as she did, was because they were in the same grade.
She walked into school one morning with Austin, and for probably the first time since she met him he'd said something actually funny that made her laugh.
It started as a giggle but ended with it's usual embarrassing snort.
"Ew.." He winced. "That laugh is nasty, Camila. Don't do it again."
