The Phone Call

Chapter 16

Niall POV

I can tell by the look in her eyes, that she is very nervous. I don't want her to feel like she has to be nervous around my family. They are gonna love her, I have already told them so much about her and Mason. I even told Mum that Theo and Mason would grow up together being the best of lads. I don't want Lauren to feel as if she ruined my life, she didn't ruin it she completed it. If Lauren hadn't came to the concert, and if Maddie hadn't ran off, I would have never met the girl of my life. I have a beautiful son with my amazingly beautiful girlfriend. I couldn't ask for anyone better. I've been thinking of getting Lauren a promise ring.. I'm just gonna wait till we get back to London, I'm gonna have Zayn tag along since he picked out a beautiful engagement ring for Perrie.

"Lauren, you dont have to be nervous, my parents already love you. I promise there is nothing to worry about. They are more than excited to have 2 grandkids." i told her tying to cmfort her the best i can.

"Okay, I am ready to meet them." Lauren said with a smile. I took her hand into mine as we walked up to the door. I turned the knob and pulled Lauren inside with me.

"MUM, Im home!" I screamed. My mom rushed into the living room where we had just entered giving Lauren and me a hug.

"Who is this little heartbreaker? Can i hold him?" My mom asked. I nodded handing Mason to her, i looked towards Lauren who had a wide smile on her face. I could tell that she was glad that my mom accepted her and Mason.

Laurens POV

I couldnt believe how accepting Nialls family was. I was so glad, we had been here for a couple of hours and i had met a lot of his family. Mason and Theo was really having a lot of fun playing with each other in the floor. They were both enjoying some tummy time. I could tell how happy Niall was to be home and i was so glad to be able to be here with him.

"Lauren would you like to help me make some dinner in the kitchen?" Maura asked me. I nodded and got up to follow her as i past Niall, I motion towards Mason. Niall nodded understanding to keep watch on him. As i entered the kitchen, whatever Maura had already begun to cook smelt great.

"Alight Lauren, i just need you to cut up this carrots and potatoes for the roast. " Maura said laying out some carrots ad peeled potatoes for me. I grabbed the cutting board and the knife and begin to cut away.

"So Lauren, Niall has told that you have a younger sister, what is she like? " Maura asked while she was cooking at the stove.

"Her name is Maddie, she is six and is a ball of energy. She probably is one of the youngest One Direction fan that i know of besides Mason and Theo." I laughed.

"Thats sweet, she lives with Jay and Mark, right?" She asked. I enjoyed that she was trying to get to know me better.

"Yes, she loves it there, I try to call her or facetime her as often as I can. I really miss her. I mean she was the only family i really has that i spent days with." I replied with a sighed.

"I understand, Did you change your last name? YOu know, when they adopted you two?" she asked while coming over to pick up some of the carrots and potatoes that i had cut up.

"Yes, I did. I honestly can say that i was really ashamed with the last name that I had. Maura can I tell you something without you telling anyone. Niall doesnt even know." I sighed. I couldnt believe i was about to tell her my biggest secret.

"Yes, sweetheart. Your secret is safe with me." Maura said with a smile.

" My parents werent the best parents to Maddie and me. When Maddie was about three my dad, when he came home he was always drunk. My mother was never with him once he came back like this. I was about 15. My father h-he used to hit me and Maddie. Maddie didnt even know what was going on. After she was about 5 and i was 16, my parents only came home to repack or do laundry and set back out. They figured that we had the nanny and I was 16 we couldtake care of ourselves. At 14 i was like a mother to Maddie, by the time I was 16, Maddie thought I was her mother. It killed me to tell her I wasnt. Maddie would cry at night and pray for mommy to come home. But she never did and once she did, she wouldnt acknowledge Maddie. I started going to parties and getting drunk every night, i only did did it to take away the pain that my parents had caused. I would get with guys and everything. One time when Maddie was asleep in my room, my dad came home. He had found out that i had been attending parties, letting my grades drop and wasnt giving the love that Maddie deserved. He beat me right in front of Maddie. From that day on, Maddie has always had nightmares of him of that night. I didnt have the heart to tell Jay this. I am worried that Maddie is having them and she is unable to tell Jay what they are about. Maura, she was the one who called the police and ambulance that night. My father told her that if she told the police what had happen he would do the same thing to her. she told them i had fell down the steps and that my dad had carried me up there but he had to leave for a flight. Maura, she had to lie to save herself. she didnt leave my side while i was in the hospital." I sighed, tears were pouring out of my eyes. Maura came over and pulled me into a hug and just held me there. I never knew what it felt like to have a hug by someone who cares for you.

"Lauren, i will call Jay tomorrow and let her know so you wont have to tell her. I promise everything will be better know. You dont have to play the role of her mother any more, just to Mason who is your child. I promise that if you need any help with him i am right here all you have to do is call." Maura said comforting me. I couldnt ask for anyone better to be Nialls mom. SHe is a wonderful lady.

Nialls POV

I had grabbed Mason and was going to go warm up a bottle for him when i over head my mom and Lauren talking. I had head everything. Lauren had been beating by her own father. Lauren was never to have a normal teenage life because of her asshole of a father and mother. I couldnt imagine what went though Laurens head while all of this happened. I just dont understand how anyone could beat there child. A child is a miracle. Once I heard my mom quit talking and return to the stove, i decided to walk in.

"Hey Lauren, Mason is hungry. Can you help me fix a bottle for him." I asked her. She came over and grabbed Mason from me andwalked over to his diaper bag. I heard the door bell ring.

"Niall, love can you please get the door for me?" my mom asked. I nodded and made my way to the door. I grabbed the knob and twisted it, revealing the figure behind it.

"Hey Niall." It was Emily my ex, the girl i was in love with before I left for the X Factor. i stood there in shock.
