New Years Kiss

Ok again I know I'm on a break but this doesn't count either ok

"What if she hates me afterwards?" I nervously asked Bolin. "She won't hate you, she's your best friend. Well, I'm your best friend, but she's your best female friend. You have nothing to worry about."

I gulped. "I hope not."

I had a crush on my friend Asami. She didn't know, only Bolin did.

I wanted to see if maybe I could get a New Years kiss from her, since the one I tried to get on Christmas failed.

Flashback

"Haha soooo how has your day been?"

"It's been fine. I'm so happy that it's Christmas Eve! I can't wait to open gifts at midnight!"

"Heh....yeah."

I pointed up. "Oh look, mistletoe." I said, trying to sound surprised.

"Cool. I think we should finish cooking the food, our friends will be here in a few hours."

"Oh! Right...yeah..."

It didn't go like I thought it would.

Hopefully it'll work this time.

"Ok, it's 11:30 now! We need to head to the roof!" Bolin yelled. Everyone went to put on their coats and shoes.

We climbed a few flights of stairs before reaching the roof of the building.

"Alright guys, I guess we'll just chill here for a while." Mako told everyone.

Everyone sat down on the benches and the edge of the building.

There were conversations going on everywhere.

People were talking about parties they were going to, their New Years resolution, 'new year, new me' type thing.

I was sitting by myself on a bench in the corner. Opal walked up to me and sat down. "What's up, you haven't said much tonight."

I sighed. "Nothing, just sitting." I lied.

Honestly, I was just nervous. I was having second thoughts about this.

Maybe I should just wait till next year or something.

Opal changed the subject. I mentally thanked her for not pushing.

"Well, do you have any New Years resolutions? Any goals?" I shook my head. "Not really. My life's pretty good now. What about you?"

Opal laughed. "Maybe I can try and eat more. Bolin keeps telling me about how light I am. He jokes about being able to use me as a weight to bench press." I laughed.

In the corner of my eye I saw someone staring at me. I turned and met eyes with Asami. She turned away quickly.

Wonder what that was about.

"Say Opal?" She blinked. "Yeah?" "Let's say you like someone....maybe a close friend....would it be a good idea to kiss them, knowing it could end the friendship?"

Opal rose an eyebrow. "Where are you going with this?" She said in a skeptical tone.

I sighed. "Well, I may or may not like someone. I was hoping to maybe get a kiss under the mistletoe with them, but that failed. So now I'm thinking about a New Years kiss, but I feel like I shouldn't."
