-Jester POV-
I bolted on top of the high buildings throughout Gotham. I loved stealing just to piss the Bat off, that's been my life. My father, The Prince - no King- of Crime, encourages this behaviour, if I fail, I get punished. Some people say I'm crazy, they think I'm gone, so what if I'm insane? The best people are.I chuckled as I made a very daring jump to the next building, rolling to soften the impact. I glanced behind me, seeing empty space. I stopped sprinting and kept my gaze in the direction I had came from.
I thought I was being chased...where was the so called dynamic duo?I slowly turned only to be face to face with the Bat himself. I froze and let a smirk appear on my lips. My muscles tensed as I prepared to leap back and engage into battle after he spoke,
"Jester you're better than this, "
I laughed and drew my gun holstered against my chest and aimed it straight at the Bats forehead. He hesitated, before drawing his own weapon of choice which was -like always- a fist full of Batrangs. He held them up obvious for me to see. I loaded the gun with a click of the switch, a little pressure on my pointer finger and a bullet would be set for Bats head.
"Question," I said, breaking the strong silence, not lowering my guard or gun
"Would I die for him? No that's too easy...." I crooked my head as the Bat glared at me
"New question: Would I live for him?"Silence
"Answer it Batsy, I know you can" I cooed
"It depends" he simply said "It depends who he is"
I rolled my eyes and I jumped off to the side and ducked just as Bird Boy flew in for a kick. I dodged and twisted around , firing my gun, cancelling a Batrang to my head. I glanced at them, both having throwing toys at hand. I knew what had happened, Bats was trying to distract me as Bird Boy attacked. I holstered my gun and bolted. I ran across the building and leaped to the other, gripping onto two very lose bricks, pulling myself up climbing. I finally reached the top, running to the other side and stopping. There was dead space for about little less than half a mile between the very building I was on and the next. Nothing in between but a thin cable wire connecting the two.
I looked down, I was at least 17 stories tall, nowhere else to run. I heard the sound of Bird Boy and Bats coming, hence the grappling hook noise. I walked to the edge putting a foot on the cable, it held my weight. I started to walk across. I blocked Batman's voice out of my head as I focused on walking across. As I was slowly walking away I felt t he cable gain a massive amount of weight, way more than my 86 pounds I was putting on it. I looked behind me and saw The Bat following me. I cursed under my breath before I shouted at him,"Go kill yourself Batsy before you kill me too!" I chuckled and kept walking
I couldn't hear the response but I knew it was something sappy about caring about me. I heard something shouting ahead, I was concentrating I didn't notice."DAMN IT JESTER LOOK UP!"
I looked up and saw him, my father, The Joker. He was on the other side with Harley. I was a little over halfway over the cable. I didn't dare look back to see if the Bat was close."C'mon Jester, " Father encouraged "That's it, come to Daddy"
I opened my mouth to reply, but as if the universe knew, a giant gust of wind blew, violently shaking the cable. I heard the Bat grunt in effort to keep balance, but I lost mine. I tripped and fell, catching myself barley. I held onto the cable with one hand, dangling above cold hard cement. My heart pounded in my ears, my vision turning to haze, my grip sweating.
What was this feeling? I'd never felt this before. I barely heard Father shout my name as my eyes filled with water. Was this fear? Why had my emotions broke through?
